I thought I'd post a link to the AP report for the game from whence all this originated. For this article, I scrubbed out all the alchemy and gunslinger stuff from the Black Powder setting, but you'll recognize the Kin and their crazy godlings.

I'd thought I'd mention my observations on this one.
This setting didn't have quite the zing to it that the previous ones had, and I finally figured out what my issue with it was. The setting focuses almost entirely on the natives of the islands, and seems to imply other nations and trading and colonies, but only in the most vague of ways.
I'm left wondering what the world outside the islands is like, and why there are pirates here, and if the pirates are the Kin or not, and what the whole bloody situation is. All I've really got here are a really awesomely cool set of hoodoo type gods, and a series of island chains to have some pirate bases on. That's a start for a setting for me, not a setting I can plunk down to my players and say "here, we play now."
So, in sum. Awesome starter set... where's the rest of the kit?

You don't think that's enough for a pick-up game? You're pirates, you've got a ship, now go steal some cargo and sell it off on the Kindred Isles. Supernatural hijinks ensue.
To be fair, it _is_ supposed to be part of a larger setting, but not one with complicated international politics. Take a look at the AP thread I linked to above.

Honestly, no I don't. I as a GM would want more information on the world setting, and I know my players would feel the same. I did go and read the Black Powder AP thread, and that is pretty much the part I was feeling was missing.
I see that college is still sucking time away from the truly important projects like writing game supplements! :) It's too bad, I'm really looking forward to a complete writeup of Black Powder and Stardust.

As am I, my friend. Stardust will likely get a turn as a Wushu Skidoo article before the year is out, tho I think I should change the title in light of the Neil Gaiman movie. Maybe you guys could help me pick a new one? I've been thinkin' about the following:
- Relativity
- Savage Stars
- Paralax
Thoughts? Counter-proposals?

Paralax gets my vote.
Also rans: River of Stars, Infinite Black, Ion Trail, Deep Black, Parsec, Starlight, Starscape.

I'm still laughing at Erron the Lesser from that AP thread. :D

That was my favorite bit, too. Completely improv'd by the group :D
Aaron - Paralax is my favorite, too. The challenge is finding something that's short and catchy, but also conveys some of the setting's core idea (ie. the combination of high-tech and primitive societies).

Hello, hello. I'm not familiar with your Stardust setting, indra, so I'm not really qualified to make suggestions. I just gotta say, though, that Parallax should be spelt with two Ls! Unless you're deliberately leaving one off, I suppose...
By day, I'm an astrophysicist, so I get to see (and use!) the word parallax quite a bit!

Ya know, I thought that looked funny.

Sounds like a product to aid in digestive issues without the second "l". :p
