Alright, so the last druid I played I levelled to 60 as Resto right after release where I did some MC (Downed the Rags) and BWL (Okay, my guild never invited me) ZG (Twice) and AQ (Well, ditto with the not invited, but they let me farm carapaces).

That character has since been deleted in a complicated series of events. I've decided after all this time to reroll a druid because, well, they are amazingly flexible and fun. I've kept mostly up to date on the druid changes since then, but not 100%, and I also plan on playing Feral this time around so I don't want to try injure myself to interrupt the boredom of leveling. Any tips?

I hit level 6 last night before the tedium of the nelf lands, unending wrathspam, +25 armor MotW and newb hotpants drove me away. I'll be back for a few more hours tonight, but I need to decide whether or not I want to continue leveling in nelf lands or move on to the Draenei. I did nelf to about 13 before I got bored, but I've never gone back to follow up on the major quest lines. On the other hand, the Draenei quests are awesome and fast. Any other pros and cons?

Lastly: Are there any rpg.net folks leveling alts right now? I like to play with other folks on occasion, but don't want to try and find a leveling partner since my play times are unavoidably random and sporadic.... it would be good if there were other folks around who would duo hard things with me. Instances are less of a big deal as I'm more of the try-and-find-a-70-to-run-me-through-DM-for-loots type of person, though only because PUGs are SO GODAWFUL.

Happy Brewfest all, I'm off to work.

I have a bunch of alts in the 10-20 range right now, so I could try and get some of those to the point where I could help you run the Deadmines.

Hey :) Did you join the P&W already?

I would just head over to the Draenei, well, really, whatever you enjoy most.

You should get Guild Event Manager (subscribe to Guild, unsubscribe from default) and then you can post dungeon run events so others can hook up with you and you don't have to do PUGs. :)

The Draenei starting area is much more user-friendly and has better drops and rewards than pretty much anything else I've seen up to level 49. The quests are fun and have real variety, and you get a real sense of storyline. There will be the odd quest you can't do, not being a Draenei, but still I can't recommend it enough. I would even go back to the very beginning and start as if you were level 1, because it's even better if you're a couple levels above the curve, and storyline and rewards do start that early.

There's a Druid trainer right off the docks when you take the boat over there, as well.

Warning: the beginner quest where they ask you to heal crash survivors: you can't complete it. It specifically requires that you use Gift of the Naaru, so even though you can heal you can't do that one.

Your name amuses me because my druid's name is "Manaan." :p

There seem to be a lot of new level 20 or less characters leveling right now, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding a partner.

That was confusing.

I'm going to go create a character called Manahmanah now. :D

I thought there was some level/rep requirement before you can do any of the Draenei quests for a non-Draenei?

[Edit] Oh and I also made a warrior Draenei alt on KT to play around with so I'd be willing to roll with you/lend a hand.

Not as far as I could determine. I rolled a Nelf druid and ran over to the Draenei start area at level 1. Like I said, there's a couple of quests I couldn't do, one of them requiring Gift of the Naaru, and the other apparently just not being offered to non-Draenei.

You'll interrupt my carefully chosen naming scheme!

I don't know if this hold true with the NE druid trainer by the dock, however.

Damn.

I remember having read your name before on the forums since I lurk here like crazy and thinking "Huh, that's kinda like Manaran". My forum name here came from my first druid, (also named Manaran) but I can't claim much originality there since I selected it by clicking "random" over and over again.

Glad to hear there's some folk my level in the P&W. I'm not a member yet, but I'm hoping to be eventually... how do I go about getting an invite? I'll probably be on later tonight for some BREWFEST, so if I can catch someone online to invite me that'd be much appreciated. If not, it's not terribly important. I don't have any immediate WoW goals, and this weekend is already looking full for me.

Thanks for the advice, all. I suppose I will go back and do the Draenei quests unless someone jumps in between now and when I login to extol the virtues of Darnassus->Darkshore->Ashenvale.

Step one: Type "/join RPGnet".

Step two: Note the channel number (the digit to the far left of the name on the channel you've joined). We'll call it X for now, althought it's probably 5 or 6 if you have everything at default.

Step three: Type "/X Hey guys, this is Manaran from the boards. Can I get a guild invite?" or something similar.

Step four: Profit!

Step four: Profit!

Profit == 4xRunecloth bags, probably some starter jewellery

Also, instance runs, honest or cheese :)

Mananramen, for the times you really want a hunky guy and cheap asian-style noodles?

Not making it on tonight...

Dorchadas, is your druid alliance or horde side? If he's alliance, I'll go ahead and reroll with a different name... levels 1-6 will only take ~1 more hour, and that's frankly much easier than getting confused for you for the rest of eternity.

Plus, I can come up with an even cooler name like Naranam.

Awesome. I'd make a fortune!

I'll give you a cut, IceShadow. ;)

He is Alliance. I don't actually care if your name is similar, but if you think it'd limit confusion, then maybe it'd be best.

Couldn't you also report your own name to a GM and ask to change it?

I actually just did this not much more than a couple weeks ago. So let me toss my two cents in and say that yes, going to the Draenei lands is WELL worth it. Come back to nelf land every once in a while, but the Draenei stuff will get you to 20, possibly further. And you will really only HAVE to do nelfy quests a few times, since they are druid related ones for Cure Poison, Bear Form, and Sea Cow.

There's also a druid trainer right outside the Exodar, which is a big help.

What could you report it as? Maybe tell them you found out it's a horrible swear word in some obscure dialect?

Claim it's "Mana ran," which as two words next to each other is banned under an RP server's naming conventions?

Might work. :p

Oh dear GOD, I forgot about the sea cow quest.

So painful. So ugly.

I love that ugly beast.

So yeah. Earliest I will likely be on is Saturday night, and even then... not that you all are waiting, but I don't like saying "Hey, check me out!" and not showing up. If someone wants to go ahead and report me before then, that'd be cool. Or not, doesn't matter ;)

Edit: I always found it odd that you can't have a compound word for a name since just about every single freaking nonhuman NPC has it. You know: Stormrage, Sunstrider, Windrunner, Bronzebeard, Runetotem, Thrall (Okay, not a compound name, but still technically not allowed) etc.
