I've *never* finished Positron before, and I'd like to do it. I'm undecided if I'll be using inPsyte (my Illusion/Empathy controller) or Meridian (Energy/Energy blaster). Anyhow, might I present the following?

Positron's Task Force (http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Positron_task_force)
Saturday, January 5, 2008
Starting 1 pm EST/ 10 a.m. PST/ 7 a.m. HST (it is 6-hours right now, right?)
3–4 player team

If we get more than 4 people, we can either schedule a second run for later (like I said, I've got two characters I want to do it with), or if we have enough people, make a second team. Running the whole TF through, taking breaks or even doing half one day, the other half another is perfectly fine by me. Doing it IC or OOC will be determined by whoever is running; I'm fine either way.

I've always heard Positron can be a pain in the butt, and doing it with people we know rather than pug'ing it should make it less painful. I want the badge, I'd like a chance for a rare recipe (as opposed to an enhancement), and for some reason I'm under the impression that TF's award souvenir's again, and I freakin' love souvenirs.

Oh, and if this goes well, maybe once a month I'm going to attempt to schedule/plan doing a TF for whoever's interested. Would that appeal to anyone? A list of the TF's can be found here (http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Task_force).

It's too bad Saturday is my official do-chores day. Even if I bust my butt in the morning to get stuff done early, I still won't make it by noon CST. If you can push it back 2 or 3 hours I'll be there with Rurou-Ken.

Still wanna do Synapse with Dr. W though. :D

Let's see who else jumps in, and we can adjust accordingly. Granted, the later it gets, the more likely we'll need to split it up.

Not sure yet what our weekend plans will be, but since we rarely get out much, you can probably count on Eros or Ammy and maybe Chemistry Geek.

Erm... I'm a maybe.

I hate Positron, but would be willing to help fill in ranks.

Expect much death by Ruin Mage.

Well, my schedule has me listed as being free. I can either bring out Sliced Ice(ice/axe tank) or Shadowed Hope(emp/dark defender) or... if i get him high enough, S44 Serviceman(WP/pipe wrench tanker).

Jazz - In the mood for Posi finally.

Oh, lordy, yes. I actually ended up binding the phrase, "One less Mage to worry about," for my Spines/Dark Scrapper with Hover, because we were Defender/Blaster (pre-buff) heavy, and I ended up being the go-to guy for quick pummellings. Piece of advice? Find someone for the team, if you can, who has Fortitude and slotted it well. That sucker turned my piddly little puncher into a damn meatgrinder.

My best advice: do it with a team of three. A full team will just get you slaughtered because of the huge spawns of enemies spewing attacks no-one has resistances to yet.

Seriously, team of three. Keeps it manageable.

Like I said, last night/morning/whatever, if I can, I'll be there.

Under Topher's recommended team numbers, we have two teams of 3 right now.

And is everyone okay with Giant Mosquito's time request?

Christine

Should be fine with us ... I still don't think we have other plans yet for Saturday.

Too early in the year for Positron for me.

Good luck though.

I should be around; if someone can't make it at the last second, I can help round out teams.

Also, I like your notion of a regular TF scheduling thread, Chikahiro. Good stuff.

I will try and be there but if there's not room because everybody else shows up that's fine.

Giant Mosquito

I will probably be able to make noon CST after all. I will be having a washer & dryer delivered to my house (which will eliminate the need to go somewhere to do laundry) on that day though, so if they don't get there in the morning I may suddenly AFK to allow them to deliver and install said appliances.

Chikahiro

Okay, so far its: Chikahiro, Giant Mosquito, Christine, Soul Of Lost, The Pill, Jazhed, Quantum Yuusuka, Xoid. That's 8 people. If we get one more person we can do three teams of 3, and possibly chatter as we go along (I'm not interested in racing, mind you :P). Topher - I'm assuming 3 is the "sweet spot," then, and going up to 4 per team would kick up the difficulty noticably?

Anyhow, I'll see if I can't spend some time in Bloody Bay and Warburg later getting Shivans and nukes, as well as getting big inspirations and the like. I'll probably use Meridian, simply because I can probably do a pug with Psyte and not worry too much about it (illusion/emp should have no trouble getting in on one).

I can bring someone in as well.

So its now Chikahiro, Giant Mosquito, Christine, Soul Of Lost, The Pill, Jazhed, Quantum Yuusuka, Xoid and BillChuck (we loves you BillChuck!).

So then; we'll meet at Positron at the appointed time, divvy up teams then (see who bring what and go off that unless you have specific requests), and take on Positron! Teams should take breaks as they need them, and if they need to break for the day, should arrange their own meetup time for completion.

Looking forward to this! :D :D :D

I'll probably bring Robbie as Eddey's already done it and I don't know if KSG will be of appropriate level by then.

Chikahiro
01-03-2008, 01:13 PM
Okay - got a Wolf's Whistle (I love Ouroboros) and a Shivan last night. If I get time to play tonight I might tempt fate and hit Warburg for a nuke or two.

Anything else I should go shopping for?

And 1 pm EST/ 10 a.m. PST/ 7 a.m. HST is still fine, right?

The kid wants to play as well, so it'll likely be Eros and Chemistry Geek for us :)

So are you two going to stock up on drinks and snacks at the desks or have a little bell to ring for the butler? :)

Look forward to having you both, then :)

If you need another open spot, I had forgotten I have something to do Saturday. I'd like to go do that, but I'll show up for the TF if nobody says they want to replace me.

Looks like I'm needed, so I'll be there.

Weirdly, I had a dream last night that I was trying to get home in time to show up for the TF meet. Is that a bad sign? :p

Well, we had to split into 2 teams; 4 in one, 5 in the other.

The team I was with completed Posi in 4:35 hours.

We had Robbie Royal, Michael Banks, Miss Pennywise, Matoko Royal, and Zenith Meridian.

Thanks for all the help! I actually enjoyed it :D

Oh, and Project PROMETHEUS has been avenged :D

Its okay - I'm just sorry we couldn't wait for you :(

Hope ze kiddo is feeling better (and that mommy is too).

Anyhoo - shall we try for Synapse next month?

Oh, and I got a level 15 Kismet: Accuracy +6% unique IO during Posi. Made it and gave it to inPsyte for use in her Group Invisibility. Tell you what; i was soo tempted to respec and put in Hover for Meridian :P

That sounds like a plan. Dr. Williams needs it for RP purposes ( I'm going to rewrite the story in my head a bit, though ) and Rurou-Ken's already done it. I think those are my only two characters on Freedom that are 15+ at the moment.

And the Kismet +accuracy? I've got it and have never been able to tell that much difference.

And the Kismet +accuracy? I've got it and have never been able to tell that much difference.
I was told it was about the same as an unslotted Leadership. This is the trick; there are other IO sets that increase accuracy for all powers. The 6% by itself is a nice little boost, but add those in too? Nice. That, and since its an IO bonus, not a set bonus, I shouldn't lose it when I EX down. Now, most enhancements lose their value tremendously when you ex, so that level 50 SO might be less than a DO or even TO when you EX with buddies. In that case, having an extra 6% acc to everything is very nice. Its also worth noting some things can't be slotted, like your origin attack, temp powers and veteran rewards powers...

We had fun, thanks all! By the end of it (plus some shopping and a last clean-up of Snaptooth), I thought my eyeballs were going to melt right outta my head and my brain would ooze through after them ... but the kid still had the energy to stick around for part of the Royals meeting. Oof. Dead dead dead too much too tired too old for this.

Next week, you say? :D

Surprisingly, Michael actually felt useful throughout most of the TF. Usually on teams, even small teams, he ends up acting more like a blaster knock-off than a controller. Teammates throwing aoes and dots (or, even worse, aoe dots) around willy-nilly make sleep just short of useless, but everyone seemed to be good about concentrating on the bad guys that weren't snoozing. That or I was inordinately lucky in my targetting. :)

Chikahiro

Michael was great. While I don't use Mind Control for my controllers, I try to be mindful. It helps that Meridian's only AOE and PBAOE attacks were unavailable to him (Nova, Invoke Panic); otherwise he really is built for single targets.

I did kill a lot of enemies you had decieved because: 1. They were sometimes what I'd consider "high priority, must die" targets, and 2. They were deceived, meaning they wouldn't counter-attack me. Free hits are free hits (one of the reasons I have Chance to Hold slotted in two of my main attack powers).

I use Deceive a lot with Psyte and inPsyte, and would typically rather deceive than Blind if I can. To be honest, I'll usually try to Deceive first, and if that doesn't work, then go to Blind. Either way, they're not going to be attacking me or my teammates, and that's what matters.

When our team ended, we had Bobbie (tank), Michael (controller) and Meridian (blaster). Bobbie was one for of crowd/damage control, you provided crowd and single-target control, and Meridian is loaded with various forms of soft controls (knockback, knockdown) with chances to hold (when he's not ex'd, you can add in single target and PBAOE Fears to that, too), plus all the pets I managed to get beforehand. It was still hairy in parts, but I think we had a great team.

When we had Miss Pennywise (Half) and Matoko (Bash), wow... if it wasn't a TF with hazard-zone sized spawns in door missions, we would've breezed through pretty much anything tossed our way.

Like I said yesterday, I consider Deceive to be a hold with some bonus damage to other enemies. I don't use it to get them to do damage to their friends (well, except for the embalmed, just cuz that doesn't stop being fun). I use it to keep them from hurting us.

Not only is it endless fun its effective!

I tried not to attack too many sleeping guys, of course since my attack chain consists of frozen fists (or whatever its called), air supperiority, the vet sands of mu, brawl and the inharent taser thing I often found myself with time to ponder who to hit next. :p
