It's a neat twist that can be added to an ongoing game where this is already possible, and the advice on scaling it and the notes on how the players and PCs are likely to react are sure to be very helpful when someone tries it.

(I already had a similar I Am Legend idea pencilled in for a single episode of my Buffy game set in a nightmarish near-future if the PCs fail to stop the new Big Bad, for example. And it could be taken much further than a single episode.)

That was excellent- I am *so* going to run something like this one of these days. Well- if my other million ideas don't get there first, but this could work really well as a short campaign.

This is why I write these: because I have a million ideas in my queue, and somebody should be doing something with them...

Coincidently, somebody on another forum suggested something a little akin to this as an off-hand comment... except, instead of killing everybody, it was a country-. continent-, or world-wide Flesh to Stone spell.

Suddenly 95% of the living critters are statues... and the remaining 5% will have to deal with the fact they're probably going to have to become vegetarian... oh, and avoid the undead and other things that are immune to petrification, and that are starting to get hungry...

Basically, its much the same as The Last, as written, except that those missing can be returned to life, with liberal application of the right spell...
