This didn't get much chatter over here, but over on EN World a poster gave this scoop: (http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=223249)

I have no idea what version of the PHB this is, but it looks like the pages shown at the DDXP. Some of this information is extrapolated from the characters I can make out and what I expect to see. I have tried to indicate where I am least sure.

Here's what I can make out:

Str +2, Cha +2
Size Medium
Speed (some number less than 10) squares
Vision Normal

Languages Common, Draconic
Skill Bonuses +2 History (not 100% on this), +2 Intimidate

Dragonborn Fury When you're Bloodied you gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls.
Draconic Heritage (Something about using something else instead of your Constitution modifier, but I can't make out for what)
Dragon Breath (Blurry text)

Dragon Breath (Red-coloured Power) Dragonborn Racial Power
Encounter * Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning or Poison
Minor Action (I kid you not!) Area blast 3 (I think)
Target All creatures in blast (I think)
Attack Strength +2 vs. Reflex, Constitution +2 vs. Reflex, or (blurry) +2 vs. Reflex

I think it lists the damage as 1d8 + Constitution modifier, but it gets mighty blurry there, and the paragraph continues off the edge of the screen. Edit: it could even be "2d6 + Constitution modifier", this part of the picture is really hard to make out.

There's a neat picture of a female dragonborn with scale mail, a shield and what might be her sword to the left of the text.
I'm somewhat amazed at how a little bit of background on the Dragonborn gets me all jazzed up for the race. They have a sense of imperiousness and self-righteousness about them - I bet even evil Dragonborn have a cruel dignity born of supreme self-confidence. I also imagine the power they get at bloodied as being something like anger and outrage they have been wounded in such a manner. Great stuff IMO.

Hmm. They get +2 Charisma and +2 Intimidate? Scary fellas.

I totally predicted that dragonborn would have +2 Str/+2 Cha, although I didn't actually post it here so I can't claim to have called it. It's surprising to see that they start with a breath weapon, though - last we heard they had to buy one with a feat, didn't they?

I think I might prefer that to being able to belch flame straight away, but what the heck, I'll take it anyway. I hope a feat lets you breathe fire dragon-style, though - you know, once every [die roll] rounds rather than once an encounter.

Last I checked no PC ever has "recharge 5 6" mechanics, so I doubt this will happen.

B-b-but I want to breathe fire pseudo at will!

I hope some feat that upgrades your breath weapon incidentally lets you breathe at will as a standard action or something, so that you can at least use it freely within roleplaying.

On a side note, this makes me really sad. I liked the sort-of-at-will-but-not-quite mechanics they experimented with in 3.5. :(

I feel your pain. The fact that they're not using the things heralded as "pseudo-4e in 3.5" that I really liked was a major let-down.:(

At least, in some form, anyway. You could make a feat, for instance, that let you get back an encounter power every time you took a standard action to make a basic attack, which would similar to the warblade's recharge ability.

Whoh, totally missed the Intimidation bonus...

They do look much more interesting than half-orcs. :p

I wasn't thrilled with the dragonborn when they were first announced, and I still think the one on the cover of the PHB looks... well, off, but I have to admit that it looks like they make for a much more interesting "bruiser" race than the half-orc. Thumbs up.

My current (unofficial) plan to include dragonborn in Dragonlance is to use them for second and third generation draconians. Since draconians have been able to breed for 40 years or so in the Age of Mortals (current) era, I figure it makes sense for the children of a race created by evil magic and corruption of good dragon eggs to be one step closer to "true" dragonkind.

Cheers,
Cam

Thatīs a tremendous idea with lots of story potential! I normally stay away from post - War of the Lance - Krynn, but continuing the story of the Draconinans in this way could open up lots of possibilities.

Honestly, Kang's Regiment has pretty much been the only interesting part left in post-Time of the Twins Krynn

If by "while roleplaying" you mean "out of combat", you should realize that you can use your breath weapon every five minutes while out of combat (a short rest). That should probably be often enough for most roleplaying purposes.

I would have to disagree with you. :)

I just noticed your sig. That must be an awesome job. I did my 11th-grade report on American authors on Miss(?) Weis (many, many years ago). She's an amazing author and one of the best creators of villains I've ever seen.
