London, 26th June 2008 — Four British gaming veterans have announced a new set of awards to highlight contributions to the RPG industry that deserve more recognition.

The British Game Awards will be presented at Dragonmeet, London's biggest gaming convention, to six RPG-related things that, in the opinion of the judges, warrant more attention.

Graham Walmsley, one of the judges, said: "We'd welcome ideas of what deserves an award. You could nominate an overlooked game, game designer, convention or Internet forum. Anything RPG-related is eligible, provided it happened, was active or was published during 2008."

"You can nominate things or people from outside Britain for British Game Awards. We’re called the British Game Awards because the judges are British and we’re judging from a British perspective. However, many of the games we play are from abroad, so we won’t limit ourselves purely to British games and events."

The British Game Awards judges are: Angus Abranson of Cubicle 7 Entertainment, publishers of the upcoming Doctor Who roleplaying game; Steve Dempsey, editor of fanzine Places to Go, People to Be; Simon Rogers of Pelgrane Press, publishers of Trail of Cthulhu and GUMSHOE; and Graham Walmsley, author of Play Unsafe.
