Talisman Studios today launched its latest book in the Suzerain line of games, The Free Musketeers. This is the third adventure toolkit for Suzerain, introducing players to politics and fencing among the dashing moustaches of the New World.
Adventure toolkits each give players a section of background on the world around them, with The Free Musketeers showcasing life in the Celestium Empires full of clandestine deals, duels at dawn and fantastic ball gowns. Then there are new types of priest to play – blessed diplomats and hierophants – as well as the involvement of the Cardinal’s Guard and the legendary Domirian Musketeers themselves.
The book also focuses on the border town of Ava Bepardi where the bishop just died in mysterious circumstances and tensions are running high. There’s a full adventure set around those events, which will bring characters up to Hero level for the first time. If you’ve been following the story in the first two books of the series, we take the characters to a whole new setting with tougher challenges and a familiar name taking centre stage at last.
Finally, the book gives characters 75 more feats to play with - a host of new options, from fencing skills to social maneuvers, relic-making to new playable races.
“We’re delighted to round off our unofficial trilogy of Untamed Empires books with The Free Musketeers.” said Martin Klimes, Publisher at Talisman Studios. “The story has the most dastardly of plots and some of the new mechanics, like the social conflict rules, expand the whole game in great ways.”
The Free Musketeers is available for sale as a PDF download from the Talisman Studios shop now, priced $11.66, and from OneBookShelf on the 25th of July priced $12.95.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Suzerain is a multi-genre, multi-world game system that was initially released as a limited edition, slip-cased collector’s book in 2000 and has been continuously developed since then until its recent re-launch. Ron Blessing of The Game’s The Thing (www.thegamesthething.com) had this to say about it, “I can't wait to spend time in this playground. The book as a whole is awesome. Suzerain can be as simple or detailed as the players and director want. The print-friendly prints well. The fully-realized, on-screen version is absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully it's obvious I'm pretty high on this product. Wow. Just wow.”
