I was looking for the thread where one of our posters started a theme based on the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting with every page having something for the players to do without Eliminster showing up.
Had it bookmarked but dat gone.
Any help?

Would this (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=228229) be the thread in question?

That would indeed be it.

Thanks. My search term was "2FYEW," which in the thread in question means "Double Fuck You, Elminster Whiners," pretty much a take-that by JDCorley against those whining about how Elminster should be able to solve whatever problem the DM's thrown their way in the Forgotten Realms-verse.
Anyway, glad to have been of assistance.

I thought that thread a particuarly good one in showcasing some of the strengths in the 3e setting that i thougth the 4e one lacked.
The fact that the 4e one hasn't inspired a simliar thread after months of being out isn't objective proof or anything, but that's a hella five start thread with a lot of greatness to it years later.

Yeah, but that thread started in November of 2005, which was - what, four years after the book was released? So, I'd say we've got some time to go on deciding the 4e book has less inspirational power. :)

Elminster was nerfed pretty hard in 4th Ed. So a similar thread would seem somewhat redundant.

I am, however, sorely tempted to do one for Eberron, and replace 2FYEW with an explanation of why the Lords of Dust/Quori/Daelkyr don't immediately eat any PC that shows up to solve the problem. :P

I could be mistaken, but wasn't the nerfing actually just not printing his game stats and talking about how screwed up he was? In essence, something they could have done in 3rd edition if they merely hadn't printed his game stats? (Been a while since I read the FRCS 4th ed as it did nothing for me.)

Well, with Mystra dead he's lost his Chosen status, so he's really nothing more than a really old high-level wizard with PTSD now--and those are a dime a dozen in FR. :)

Well, the Lords of Dust are sealed away forever, so that's kind of too bad for them. If they weren't sealed, sure, they'd eat any PC that showed up, but they'd also eat Eberron. So, er, they generally aren't doing much to the PCs.
I'm pretty sure the Daelkyr (at least the full-power CR 20 ones) are the same way, only not quite as sealed. On the other hand, they can't quite eat the entire planet.
That leaves... the Quori, who really can come and eat you if you're on Sarlona I guess. On the other hand, the Eberron Campaign Setting barely touches on Sarlona, so that thread would be pretty easy to write.
