I quit WAR in last September because the machine I had then could only just barely run it. Now I have a better one and I am considering the re-enlistment offer. I was just wondering wether it is on for the european servers and also has the game gotten better since launch?

I liked it then, especially its pvp-aspects but was slightly put off by fact that they dropped the Knights of the Blazing Sun as a playable class before launch. I have heard that they are now in, area they any good? I have played Wow as prot-spec warrior for some time and I like the way that works, what sort of a class is the KotBS?

The game is much better since launch. They've made open RvR much more playable, sorted out a lot of bugs, and made crafting much more playable. They've improved PvE, improved PQS, improved the scenarios. All in all, its a far more playable game than before, even if at its core its the same experience as before.

The KotBS is a tank class.

Like all the tank classes it has a blocky shieldmaster path (path of Vigilance), a DH damage path (path of Conquest) and a leadery class (path of Glory). Its not quite as invulnerable as the Ironbreaker, but is on a par with the Swordmaster for tanking.

Its main mechanic is Battle Commands/shouts. Each of these is a buff to allies (including self), or a debuff to enemies, or both. If you activate a shout, then other shouts you have go from being persistent effects to having a 12 second count before expiring.

Activating a shout puts a 4.5 second cooldown on all shouts, so essentially you can have up to three shouts going at once, though its a little click-intensive. Its entirely worth it though, as they don't have any AP cost, and having three shouts on the go dramatically increases your party's potential.

Its very hard to come top half damage for KoTBs and reasonably hard to get top XP (though it does happen). What the class is good at is supporting the team, never running out of Action Points (if played right) and topping scenario Renown. Don't ask me why this works - in some scenarios I've scored zero killing blows, mediocre damage and participated in minimal kills, and yet still topped the Renown board by a clear margin. I suspect its something to do with putting damage reflects on all your team, which then lets you count as participating in every kill they have.

All in all, a very solid and fun class, with a lot of options and a lot of fun for tanks who like to support their party.

If you canceled your account sometime before the February I think you should have received an email in regards to it. If you take advantage of the offer, they will turn on your old account for 10 days. Unfortunately it is a static date and not a rolling one (the cutoff date for when your account needed to be closed is fixed).

Trying WAR again. I played at release. I'll give it another shot.

What server are people using?
