By the dudes who made Shadow of the Colossus.

I love the look of the monster/griffin thing. The animation is amazing - I bet they motion captured a dog, because it moves perfectly.

Unless I'm mistaken, some of the bits at the end are actually gameplay footage, and goddamn!

It moves much more like a cat than a dog, especially in the face, but also in the way it climbs and paces, imho, but it does certainly does look remarkably real.

This game, even without knowing what it's really about beyond the modern-classic tale of "A boy and his friendly monster", looks absolutely fantastic, and I am indeed surprised that I've not really heard much about this before, because this would convince me to buy a PS3.

The only thing that concerns me is that the big, puppy-god-eye'd beast looks so friendly, innocent and slightly helpless that I'm not sure my heart would be able to standing seeing it get hurt, let alone killed. If they're still iterating on it and the boy's design, I think he could stand to look a little more "real" (he's a bit of a cartoon, and not in a good way), and it could stand to look a little meaner (but not too much).

God damn it. I'd done so well, held off picking up a PS3, firm in the knowledge the only PS games I really wanted to play (ICO and SotC) were on the PS2, and I could just pick up one of those at the bargain price one of these days. Even in the face of Advent Children Complete I remained strong.

I hope you're proud of yourselves, Team ICO. My resolve has been crushed. I'm going to have to buy a PS3, and it's all your fault.

There was a thread about this a few weeks back. I don't know how many pages back it'd be at this point.

The official name is apparently The Last Guardian, this would seem to plug it firmly into the mythology of Shadow.... If this is true, I'm hoping there'll be elements that tie it into Ico too. I'd like to see this piece as the bridging story that makes the mythology whole.

I'm not talking about it because I don't see much too talk about, but this game, in the context of "Whatever game Team ICO is making next" is the reason why I bought a PS3. Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 will be and were just bonuses.

Well apparently there was some gameplay in the video, so that could be spoken about. I haven't watched it yet. I'll wait for the HD stream of the whole thing to appear on the PSN store.

Does that mean some jerk with a horse and a bow is going to come along and try to kill the puppygriffonbeast?

Well it is peppered with arrows in at least one of the shots...

Of course this means that the adorable monster is going to die at the end.

But. . .but the monster can't die!

Agree with you, Eurhetemec, about the cattishness, tho. Especially when it's catching those barrels, and looking around curiously. Awwwwwwww. Also the eyes.

So begs the question: Who's the guardian? The boy or the beast? ;)

(edit) This is the trailer shown at E3 which looks a lot better than the leaked version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqvIITrYdyo

I found ICO boring and Shadow of the Colossus to be too repetitive, but I'm still interested in this. The monster is cute (and going to die, you betcha), and at least the main character isn't a gruff-talking man with a gun. Shame it's going to be a platformer instead of, say, a cute monster life simulator.

So. The good trailer is up.

Just seeing this color palette again damn near brings tears to my eyes.

That is beautiful.

But yeah, like everyone else I'm terrified the kittypuppygriffonratasaur is either A. Going to die, or even worse, B. You have to kill it. If it's the latter, fuck it, I won't finish the game.

I'll be getting a PS3 as soon as this comes out.

Not really a huge fan of Ico, but SotC is one of my favorite games ever.

Argh, I didn't want to get at PS3, but I can't resist this game.

I'm curious of some of what appear to be gameplay shots are like the final game. I've greatly enjoyed both Ico and SotC, but the latter is more game-ish than the first. Until reading one of StephenLS's comments years ago I hadn't paid attention to Ico's lack of interface: no onscreen meters or symbols, just the characters and the world. What look like gameplay shots in the trailer seem to follow this approach, which would suggest gameplay like Ico's "figure out how to get from here to there". I've long thought that Ico tells its story better than any other medium could, so I'm looking forward to what looks like that kind of experience mixed with the clambering-on-walking-mountains gameplay of SotC.

If you can't see what this thing looks like after peuberty--a small new zealand sized beast with eagle wings--I will be greatly annoyed.

Would be nice if it was the boy that turned out to be the last guardian and had to perish at the end, leaving the world in the hands of the cattybeasts.

Are those knobs stuff that will grow into horns or what remains after they've been removed?

I won't buy a PS3 so I'm not terribly interested in the game itself. But damn, these folks should be making animated movies.

Like other posters, I'm fairly sure the chickencat will die at the end. Thankfully, though, I think that there will be something that ends the game on a positive note, as was the case with Team Ico's previous games.

Aww fuuuuck. I was prepared to even pass up Final Fantasy before it came to the 360. But this? This is the first thing ever to make me even consider a PS3 seriously.
