Good review. How appropriate that this weekend I just ran a hybrid miniatures/roleplaying session using Ninja Hero. I wrote it up here (http://corpcommander.blogspot.com/2009/06/ninja-revenge-aar.html) complete with lots of pictures.
The out of print book "The Ultimate Martial Artist" (still available as a PDF) is the perfect companion for this book. I highly recommend it. It has hundreds of martial maneuvers, a system for designing your own, lots of additional notes on character package deals (soon to be called Templates when 6th edition comes out this Summer) and long lists of weapons.
While Ninja Hero covers many aspects of the genre outside of Asia (for example the Three Musketeers are covered somewhat in it) if you want an even deeper understanding of Ninja and their actual history I highly recommend "Shinobi, Shadows of Nihon" if you can find it.
