James Gillen's Summary:
Yes, now you can finally play a Gnome Barbarian. But that would be silly.

It is not a core book for D&D
WOTC disagrees with you :)
I take it you mean you don't consider it particularly essential ... ?

Apologies. Do they list it as a corebook? I didn't see it listed as such. I DO mean you don't need it to learn the game.

gets up-close-and-personal and dishes out a lot of damage even though he doesn't wear a lot of armor.
Huh? Why would damage and armor be related?

According to WotC (who didn't like how "non core" books didn't seel as well) it is.

Easy to read format. Clear presentation of information. Giving relevant information. Recognition of historical trends and former appearances of current crunch and fluff. No substitution of personal opinion for objective fact. Average score, showing neither a blinding hate or love for this product.
WORST! REVIEW! EVER!!!
Seriously, I'm kidding. That's good stuff. We need more.

Nice review. I especially liked the explanations of the precursors to some of the PH2 classes. Thanks a lot.

Player's Handbook 2 is recommended for D&D fans who want Bards and Barbarians...
Any reason for this conclusion? Why distinguish Bards and Barbarians over Druids and the other Classes?

Alliteration? :)

An opinion at the end of the review and an overview of what the book was about before that. Sounds like a review to me...
The reviewers here do this on their own time and their own dime. Everyone has their own style, nothing wrong with that.

there is a sidebar defining 'Small' – like, if the cops pull you over for speeding, they can give you the balloon test. They give you a balloon, and if you can fit in it... then you're Small.
No, man... I'm Tall! I'm Tall!
