Okay. I played FF7 way back in the day super hardcore (Fine I was a fangirl), had the game completed to about 99% (Could never get my DAMN chocobo to breed gold, I swear I had a glitch in the game), Arist is about the same. Played it, beat it, ect, ect, ect.

Well we were at the flea market a few weeks ago and found a brand spanking new copy for $8. Inside the case was a pack of morning glory seeds for anyone who might laugh as hard as we did when we found that. So we decided to play it again this weekend.

Opening, still pretty fricking cool. My initial thoughts are just how awesome a setting it really was. The whole industrialized city along with the FF themes were really amazing. Meshing it together is mega awesome, much more mega awesome than Kingdom hearts where you don't even see so much as a Sebastian the crab for like eight millenia.

I actually like Midgar much more this second time around and am kind of sad to leave. Kalm took for FRICKING EVER. Although I thought it was longer. Chocobo ranch is so awesome. I love chocobos, fucking love chocobos. They are amazing and cute and amazing.

I got yuffie. She's my most favorite character ever. She's amazing too. So we got to the boat and I also forgot how amazing Barrett in the sailor costume is. I swear, a million fanfics were born that day.

The only other thing I notice that I didn't the first time is that the Zach/Cloud think actually, remotely makes sense.

Well we just killed our first version of Jenova, and I can't wait to get my Highwind, although it will be all of forever!!!

I still can't get my PC copy to work properly ;_;

Dangnab Vista ruins my childhood on a regular basis these days. I wanted to play the game just so I could beat the Weapons (I never managed all of them) and get all the blue mag... er, monster attack materia stuff. Plus the posters.

I'll live it vigorously through this thread.

Made it to the Golden Saucer. Forgot how terrible it is to get Ethers... Piece of shit! Apparently those suckers cost 1500 Gil. I don't remember them being that hard to find. Oh well, serves me right for wasting them all!

Golden saucer is about the same as I remember it. Playing the Mog game was a blast again, so cute! *ZOMGI'MAGIRL* I got my 30GP from the Mog game and went and paid the communist save point and turned it off.

Plan tomorrow is to level up. I don't think I'm high enough and could use some major gil!

Wields, you should sell your PC copy and buy the PS1 copy. The PC version seems to be the rarer and more expensive one.

The high res patch made FF7 playable on my vista system.
I also appear to have windows 98 compatibility mode set for it - not sure if this is needed.

The high res patch is buggy in a few places (e.g. ultima spell), but didn't make the game crash for me.

Eee! I'm re-playing too for the first time since, uh, 1998. I just finished Cosmo Canyon but before going to Nibelheim I want to level up a bunch, get Aerith (yes, I renamed her) to learn her Level 3 Limit Breaks, and make a butt-load of gil so I can buy me a permanent pass to the Gold Saucer and that villa in Costa Del Sol.

Right now my party is the mandatory Cloud, Aerith and Yuffie (for her one multi-attack level three Limit Break). Cid will replace Aerith after she goes http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/Rin_Daemoko/Animated%20Gifs/x_x.gif

I'm looking forward to 99 Elixirs, multiplying HP+ Materia and selling them off for ridiculous amounts of gil, starting a chocobo eugenics program to breed the most supreme Gold Chocobo of all time, and wearing bikini briefs. I will challenge the Weapons to a dance off and wipe the floor with them!

Yay! Cloud/Yuffie/Cid is the best party ever.

My party always tended towards Cloud, Red XIII and Vincent.

Yey Yuffie love! My party will probably end up with Cloud, Yuffie and Vincent, I didn't play any at all last night. Perhaps tonight!

I was always a fan of rolling with Cloud, Tifa, and Vincent. They seemed to balance each other well.

Grr, do want too, but don't have much time for it nor a copy of the game anymore for inexplicable reason.

I always did want to make an archive save with micromanaged relationship mechanics that is as close as possible to the Gold Saucer date, so one can get any of them with minor activity beforehand.

(Heh. Since such a save would consist pretty much of pissing off the girls at every opportunity and going all manly man on the Barret-impressing answers, it is actually pretty in-character for stereotypical Cloud despite being extremely meta.)

Must re-get game.

Its on the PSN if you have either a PS3 or a PSP.

That's where I got it from. Downloaded it for $10 to my PSP and love it! Although I've since lost my battery cover and have to to find a replacement. Pity.

Is the gameplay any smoother than the PS1 version? I've been thinking of downloading it onto the George Foreman Grill TM just so that I had something to play on it.

It really is. No need to wait for anything to load since it's all stored in memory. It even creates its own virtual PSOne memory cards for you to save your progress.

Cid is clearly the best second character for the entire game. His scimitar and javelin are two of the three best materia-growth items in the game (with Cloud getting the third and very best), and that factor alone is more important than every other factor combined. Including character coolness and personality. Who really wants to wait for KotR to level up on a normal AP growth slot? Cid's excellent Limit Breaks and ultimate weapon are just icing. Yuffie isn't anywhere near as automatic, but I usually give her the nod because she has a better 4-slot double growth weapon than any of the other five characters, but she has to be held back on L3 Limit Breaks. Fortunately, she has one of the better ultimate weapons in the game, if you ever get in a situation where you'd rather have damage than materia growth.

My reasoning is ruthlessly mechanical munchkinry. The fact that Cid and Yuffie's lines make me laugh has nothing to do with it.

I'm with you KoboldLord. Not only are Cid/Yuffie the most power gaming party to have, but they also have some of the best lines. :p

Vincent, as much as I want to like the guy, has the worst limits in the game. :(
