Here. (http://wizards.com/dnd/calendar.aspx?Month=11&Year=2009) Kudos to Shroomy at EnWorld.
Looks like they've started with the new "more shorter articles" scheme. That's a bunch.

Channel Divinity: Not the Raven Queen. Melora is pretty interesting.
Demonomicon: Codricuhn. I'm always up for more Demonomicon articles.
Warlord Pacts is either neat or an awesome typo.
Conversion: Stormreach. Shiny.

"Warrior Forge Artificer"? Probably Warforged Artificer. I wonder what the article will contain.

Next set of excerpts after Draconomicon 2 will be from Planes Below. That should be interesting.

Hmmm, a Role article (Roles: Defenders). I'm looking forward to that too.

Nothing specified as the PH3 Debut. Wonder what that will be (or is that over? I thought that ran until PH3 was released).

Wow! That's a lot of class acts! Warlord, and sorcerer get Essentials while rogue, wizard, paladin and invoker get Class Acts. I think Warrior Forge artificers may be a melee-oriented artificer article.

Last month they said that the artificer will receive a third build in the November issue. The warrior forge artificer must be the companion to the battlesmith and tinkerer.

NINJA'd by chitzk0i. Hopefully, it is a melee-based build, because my artificer/rogue would love some more delicious weapon powers to go with my rapier...

I really hope that someday Mearls and Co return to do some non-AP podcasts. I miss those.

I love Class Acts and Essentials, but I'd rather have more Monsters and Bestiaries. With all four Power books and a good number of DDI articles, I have more than enough powers. I need more critters! Demonomicon is good, but I already have Grazzt, Orcus, Demogorgon, Dagon, Baphomet, and that one guy (Jubilex?) to plot with. For variety in godlike entities and epic threats, I'd rather have more Archfey and Primordials.

Doesn't matter how many ways a first level fighter can swing a sword if all he can ever swing it at is Kobolds and Goblins. In fact a good monthly article series would be a level-specific bestiary. Different creatures (from different types) for one specific level every month.

(Jubilex?)

Turaglas (and Yeenoghu, too).

And yes. More low-heroic monsters, plz.

The new article format may be smaller, we have been said, but that still feels packed. I approve.

Can't wait for those Warlord pacts!

Just imagine... Pact of Conan! Pact of Arthur! Pact of Caesar!

Likewise. I don't actually give a crap about any of the other things; I barely ever read them. I like preview/debut material and I hope that it's simply an oversight (rather than a "holiday hiatus" on those articles).

Note that there's not just DDI content, but also new free content every day. Really nice effort at making the site a destination for non-subscribers.

I love Class Acts and Essentials, but I'd rather have more Monsters and Bestiaries.

Remember that Class Acts and the like are Dragon (aka player) articles, and Bestiaries are Dungeon (aka DM) articles. Removing class-based player articles wouldn't necessarily get you more DM articles, just different player articles.

I used to read everything except the columns (voraciously - when I was finished with an article, there wasn't any text left on the page), but gradually tapered off. I know what's there, but I don't feel any pressure to read it. I have DDI for the Character Builder more than anything else.

(edit: I am not saying any of it is crap - I've always liked what I've read - I just don't feel motivated to read much of it, since I can do it anytime)

I've read Warlord Essentials (by guessing the article's URL), and, although the crunch part (feats+powers) is good, the advice part is kinda atrocious, mainly because the author tries to justify the at-will recommendations from PHB1 and Martial Power, which aren't that good. Stuff like recommending Commander's Strike to Inspiring Warlords, not recommending it to Taclords... it's grating, because it feels like the author (Robert J. Schwalb, who's pretty good with crunchy stuff) knows this, and is only reinforcing the PBH1 because WotC doesn't want to admit they're horrible.

The WE article list of recommended builds per race lists Resourceful for Eladrin and Half-Elf ...

Yeah, the people who write those have shown time and again that they have no idea how to build a tight character even though they could just read forums about it.

I'm not sure what it is but their 'suggested builds' are just awful. I suspect corporate bureaucracy and/or greed/evil. :p

I just read the article and I agree, some of the advice does indeed make me scratch my head. It seems to me that Commander's Strike should grant a Cha bonus to attack if they want Inspiring Warlord's to use it.

I have barely caught up with all the stuff that is already out.

Mind you I am not complaining, but at this pace I'll never be caught up.

Well, there's the Monk.

It won't be. It'll just be the same build again, except this time finished, vs the playtest version we got in the Spring. At least, that's the most likely scenario.

Also, both the Warlord Essentials and Defender articles were taken down and re-edited today, because they apparently had "unfinished text." Though it looks like the links aren't back up yet. The files are there though. Don't know all the edits, but I do know Extending Weapon was removed entirely from the Defender article.

Thank god. That shit was ridiculous. And Warlord could use some editing too.

Apparently it wasn't a re-edit or errata. They originally essentially put up rough drafts. Not what was meant to be the finished (pre-compile) articles.

What did it do?

Weapon group shenanigans as a property (gotta love that polearm-spear-hammer mordenkrad, eh?), and something else as an... encounter power? I think?

Agrias oaks

What did it do?

It gave a melee weapon reach and counted it as a spear and polearm weapon.

So you could have a fullblade with reach, as well as it counting as a spear/pole arm.

I am a bit annoyed that there's no PH3 or other real playtest material this month. Especially combined with the fact that the character builder update is delayed by two weeks for the "holidays." Even more especially combined that I tried to make a Seeker using a Farbond Spellblade Scimitar in the builder and it didn't recognize it as a Heavy Thrown weapon even though it is clearly indicated on the item card.

Really, it's the scimitar that put me in the pissy mood. I'm just letting the other stuff pile on. :)

I OTOH am delighted that we have no PHB3 previews this month. I'll end up buying the book anyway, so the preview material ends up being content I pay twice for.

Well, specifically the thing I found annoying was their explanation of higher subscription fees being for playtest stuff and exclusive stuff (like the Assassin and Revenent). Not that I mind the subscription fees or anything. I just don't like being told I'm going to get cool stuff and not get it.

Also no templates in the Monster Builder!

That wasn't the explanation, though - the explanation for the increased fee was "discounted preview time is over." It just happened (totally on accident, I guess ;)) to coincide with the announcement of exclusive PHB3 preview material.

I want more PHB3 stuff (or stuff like the Assassin, I suppose) because I generally like reading about the Big New Stuff - new classes, new races - over the smaller scale stuff like 4 new powers for Class X or a new weapon set or whatever.

I don't know how I feel about the Monk preview. I've been playing a monk since the playtest in March and they are pretty underpowered. I suppose I'll find out if they make any substantial changes to increase their power. So on the one hand I'd like an update of the wisdom build to up it's power. On the other hand we already have stuff for that build so I kind of want to see what the strength build is. In any case having access to feats will make a huge difference when making a monk.

Gah. I'd totally forgotten about this, and now I am grumpy and sad.

I don't know why I like the CB updates as much as I do.
