If we wanted to look on eBay WE WOULD GO TO EBAY! All these threads and links do is waste valuable front page space. I'm sure everyone here knows all about eBay, and would go to that site if they wanted to go that route. I've also noticed, a huge chunk of the eBay threads are by NPCs or people with only a few posts (a lot of times just the one) under their belts. They are just here to advertise, and waste space and our time.

And you're compelled to read these threads how?

Without these kind of threads I would never have heard about the 'Delta Green Mi-Go' auction.
As it is I only go to Ebay when I see an add here, as I don't want to waste an hour a day plodding through auctions for products that I don't care for.
As long as they remain in the Sales! Auctions! or Ads/Pr0mo forum I don't see a problem.
Just my $0,02.
Cheers,
Marc - who lost the Mi-Go auction :(

Sales and Auctions is, as far as I know, the place to announce sales and auctions. It doesn't matter where they are hosted (as long as it's legal).
Not everyone searches eBay every day.

A waste of space like... oh say Tangency that has nothing to do with RPGS?
This area is Sales! Forums! and Ebay fits perfectly. So shut up and stop being a tattletale. The Mods job is to get rid of threads that dont belong, let them do their job.

I have a better suggestion- Moderators: Please delete all threads, everywhere. I call it the cleansing rain theory.

Shouldn't this be in Trouble Tickets?

Now that I can agree with

OK, first off, I'm a bit peeved by all those insulting comments. This is very relevant, and I've never been one to bitch about NOTHING!
Part of it's personal, my computer is old, and takes a long time to load every page. When I spend that time, just to find out that it's about crap for sale on eBay, my time has been wasted.
Second, when someone puts a "for sale or trade" thread up, and a bunch of eBay threads come on, and puch it off the front page in a day or 2 before many people get a chance to notice it, it defeats the purpose of this particular forum.
This is a site for selling and trading, not a site for advertising your product for sale elsewhere. So before you people start with those childish comments, get your facts straight!

Boy, as nice as I've been to you with everyone else calling you an idiot and a liar, and this is what I get? Geesh!

Eh no, they belong in this thread just as much as any other advertising. This forum is called Advertising/Auctions.

Ok I am sorry. I got carried away. Well with you no longer buying new rpgs you should invest in a new computer since they are so cheap nowadays.

Yes, I take your point (no, I really do), but the 'crap for sale on eBay' is role-playing games, and this forum is (according to a moderator above) for advertising the sale of role-playing games, wherever that sale may take place.
So if my initial knee-jerk post sounded terse I apologise, but advertising eBay auctions of RPGs is on topic for this forum. Perhaps if there was a guideline to put (eBay) in the subject line, then people can avoid opening those posts.

That sounds like a great voluntary step that everyone could take to avoid any problems.

Well, It's become obvious to me that I'm the only one bothered by this, so I want to appoligize to everyone who wasted time reading this thread. Thanks for letting mw know how the majority feels.
Perhaps I was a bit cranky the morning I posted it anyway :)
Moderator, feel free to delete THIS thread, I guess I was wrong.

Well, actually Grubman is not the only one who feels that way. I hardly ever visit this forum anymore because I'm almost always redirected to eBay anyway.
According to the description, this forum is A forum for individual auctions or selling. Buyer beware and all that.
Nowhere in this description it says that the forum is for announcements about what happens on eBay or other auction sites. When this forum was started I expected that I could find items for sale here, but it soon became only a referral site to eBay. Hardly interesting anymore; if I want to see what's on sale at eBay I go check that site.

I beg to differ, Whymme.
I've bought tons of stuff from people on this board without once going to ebay.

Actually, I've had this experience too. Not "tons" of stuff... but quite a few products without ever going to ebay.
As for the ebay adds on this forum, I'm cool with those.

Rec.games.frp.marketplace is almost the same way now; people just post announcements of their eBay auctions.
If you actually want to suggest that eBay auctions not be permitted here, then make it an official suggestion in Trouble Tickets.

Nah, it's not that important to me. As I said, I hardly visit this forum anymore; if I want to find a game I go to eBay. Which means that even the posts trying to get my attention to someone's eBay auction don't reach me.
The subject has never been important enough for me to start a thread about it here, let alone go to the trouble tickets forum. My post was just to let Grubman know that he isn't the only one.

I've bought a few things from folks on this board directly and I've also bought a few off of ebay from links posted here.
I don't see the problem. Although I do like the idea of people putting 'ebay' in the subject. That would be cool, but then again if they didn't it would still be cool with me.
