I get exactly the same problem. My browser can't stay logged in. It's always "slipping out" when I go to a new page. All the new post indicators go blank as well. Very annoying!

I third this. Very problematic. I can log in and it will take me to the control panel but as soon as I view another page it indicates that I'm not logged in.

It seems like the cookie isn't getting loaded into the system, because it keeps "forgetting" I'm here.

Strange, just started this afternoon.

Thanks,

Same problem here - I can't seem to even login - not long enough to make a post under my proper name anyway.

I never used to have the problem - then I did - then it went - now it seems to be back.

Ahhahahahahhfffggggg!

Ain't nuthin' but a G Thang.

I mean, a server thang.

Or something.

Yeah, I never had this problem before. Considering all the other NPCs posting, I have a feeling that it ain't a simple "cookies" problem...

I also can't stay logged in. I have to log in again every time I want to do something. My preferences are not being used presumably because I am not logged in. It worked fine yesterday and doesn't work today. I haven't changed any of my settings on this end.

The shame. I'm actually posting as an NPC. I'm having the same problem as you folks. And just like Keith, yes, it only started today.

I can't stay logged in.

Not fair! I want to be a player character!!! NPCs not only die horrible deaths, but they are often used as sidekicks and for comical effect.

Hi. My name's Marius and... I'm an... NPC.

I keep getting logged out too. I can't post with my proper name. It's so shameful. *sob*

I think I'll just cruise over to Palladium's boards.

Cheers,
Marius.

Go to User CP. Login. Go to My Options. Login again. Set the "browse using cookies" option OFF. Login yet again. Now, as long as you don't close the page you will remain logged in.

Thanks Psyke. It worked like a charm, now I just need to remember to minimize the screen and never log off again!! :)

Thanks again.

Guess what? I'm having the same problem as well.

Why aren't cookies working properly though? I was able to browse using cookies fine up until today, from the same computer even.

Are we experiencing bizarre technical difficulties?

---> Sandy & co. just switched machines to host RPG.Net, and I suspect part of the cookie handling settings got lost in the shuffle.

Thanks Pyske. Your solution seems to be working like a charm.

Grr...

Not liking this problem, not at all....

It started just shy of 3:30-4pm EST in case anyone is looking for when it started (that's when I noticed it anyways).

Gah. An NPC. The login systems's totally busted.

I think the problem is due to the move; I took a look at the cookie file, and there was a reference to "rpg.net", which I believe should be changed to "forum.rpg.net", to go with the new URL [forums.rpg.net] instead of [www.rpg.net/vb].

I would assume it's a pretty trivial fix, but I don't have any admin experience with VBulletin

How can I ever progress beyond Initiate if I have to post as an NPC?

GP - has his priorities straight ;)

This works!

Tap tap...Am I on?

If so, I found another solution: use Nestcape 6.

After logging in about 4 times, it appears that Mozilla 0.9.7 [A version of the Open Source core that Netscape 6 uses, just a much more recent release than the one actually inside Netscape 6.] works correctly with the "browse" cookies disabled, but still chokes with them enabled.

Ah. My comments may be premature; even with cookies disabled, I'm getting intermittent logouts in NS 6.

Just a test. I seem to be able to stay for a while, at least.

In a minute I'll go to another site and come back and see what happens.

anyone come up with a permanent solution yet?

would wiping the cookies file do any good?

NPC David Goodner

So you can only keep your login as long as you stay on the site.

Darn. That's inconvieniant.

Sandy:

I don't suppose you could sticky-fy the topic "How To Log In" on the main forum, as an interim solution until we get cookies working again?
