Why?

It seems that all of us are having similar problems...

Anyone know why they went from a board where you didn't have to log in - but allowed you to post under your own name to a board that you must register and log in to?

It seems, except for the aesthetics, that the other board was better. This one is leading to a lot of frustration.

So, simply: Why?

The switch to vBulletin was because:

a) we'd hit a hard limit in Phorum's abilities (in terms of feature set and just in terms of database overload), and

b) Skotos uses vBulletin and would pick up all support issues (as they are familiar with it), whereas I was the sole Phorum expert. So it made sense to unify under one platform, vBulletin won.

We didn't expect a machine move 1 week after vBulletin came up, but actually that's because the move got pushed up once vBulletin increased our database needs.
