I don't know why I don't do this more often.. I suppose i Just don't realize or something and keep working in color, but greyscale can be fun. (was hard at first, trying to remember color in black/white..) 'specially since a lot of publishing people want greyscales, so now I have a few to show...

Anyways.. I've got a few of them now.. latest one being called 'protector'.. which is my favorite out of the bunch.

I'll just dump the whole directory here..

let me know what you think.. or if there's anything I need to keep an eye on to consider when doing others..

Those are really nice! I prefer "dragon" more than protector as it seems to have more life to it although protector isn't without its charm :)

Seriously nice work, these are of publishable quality IMHO.

SergioCaridad: Digital -g- done in photoshop.

Metal : Aye.. I like dragon as well cause of the movement and overall bitchyiness.. but the protector guy is just my silly dragon with the big head and is more of a err.. relaxed/still night or something -g- it was actually fashioned after some stuff I had done last year for my show, some birds with LOOONG beaks..

I love these! You have a great control over the lighting in these, but have managed to keep them loose and expressive. That is indeed comendable.

I think I like protector as well, it has a wonderful atmosphere in it.

Keep up the great work!! :D

Absolutely fabulous shadowgirl.
Any tips or hints as to how you achieve that style using only 100% photoshop? Tablet or mouse? or either?

Aaahhh these are fantastic!

My favourite is Underworld....... lovely sense of depth with big blocks of shadow, with a lovely angle of view... gorgeous work!

Thanks for sharing Shadowgirl :)

Cheers,
Scott.

Thank you all for the comments -grin-

YtbN: Well, for all 4 of these I was trying something other then just a simple round brush (I work with one of those about 100% of the time.) I've got it set so that opacity, size and color are pressure sensative.. so if i press harder, one color shows more, lighter, the other does..

but for these I was using the brushes that come with photoshop.. they're err.. kind of square with a scrubby kind of idea behind it. and I set the overall opacity to a 65% so that underpainting would show through here and there...

and I use a tablet.. I haven't a CLUE how people manage to draw with just a mouse..

Patience, Patience, Patience. And something to smack around. Thats how you draw with a mouse. I guess I'll break down and buy a tablet.

I really like those greyscales, nice lights and atmosphere over all. I like the first one "dragon" most. It has such an emphatic mood, great!
But you should work on your composition, i think. It looks a bit self-conscious. Too hard to explain with my limited vocabulary. :)

hmm? I'm actually not sure what you mean by it being 'self-conscious'

thanks -g-

Some great looking images there - I really like your style of figure drawing. I thik 'Fae' was my personal favourite - very twisted and eerie, with some great lighting from the fire.

Maybe I just used the wrong vocabulary :)
As said, your pics generate a strong mood but the composition doesn't look that "strong".
There's nearly the same perspective in every of your pictures, and nearly all the same distance between the viewer and the "protagonist(s)". You don't vary the perspective or distance. While the mood is good and interesting, the composition makes the pic a bit boring.
What i meant with "self-conscious" is, that it seems like you're unsure to use other perspective, distance etc.!
I'm sure if you would vary these points and follow such simple composition rules as the golden section, your pictures would win a lot of strength. :)

Hope I could define my point a bit better than the last time. :)

makes sense now -g- and actually, distance wasn't what I was thinking off, bother.. it's something I *do* have to consiously think about..
