It's time for Season Two of the Tangency Online Blood Bowl League!

The homepage for the league can be found at http://www.iceshadow.com/javabowl . We will be using SkiJunkie's Blood Bowl Java Server/Client, which can be found at http://javabbowl.no-ip.org/ . Make sure that you have the latest version of the client, which as of right now is 5.9, and that your Java is sufficiently upgraded to play the game. The latest version of Java can be found at http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp . The official BloodBowl Living Rulebook can be found at http://www.specialist-games.com/bloodbowl/assets/LivungRulebook2.pdf . We will be accepting any team in the LRB, as well as any of the official Experimental teams, which can be found at http://www.blood-bowl.net/GWTeams/GWRosters.html .

The best way to arrange games is through IRC, either your own client or the one on the front page of rpg.net. The server that we use is irc.magicstar.net, and the channel is #BloodBowl.

We will once again be playing a 16-game maximum season. Any given team may not play any other given team more than twice. There are two divisions: one for teams at 175 Team Rating and higher, and one for lower TR teams. Any team within 25 points of the cutoff may start in the higher league if they so choose, but any team at 175 TR or higher must be in the upper league. Teams may not switch between leagues until after the season is over and finals are played.

After each game, a post should be made on this thread with the updated team .html file, which can be found in the results directory of your blood bowl application. Edit it to put in the appropriate skills, if there are any new ones, as well as the results of aging, and any new purchases. Skill rolls and aging rolls can be made on IRC, with the convenient BloodBowlBot. Recalculate your team rating, and post it to the thread. I will update your team, and you'll be ready to go again.

Multiple teams per coach are allowed, as long as all of your existing teams (not counting retired ones) in the lowest division have at least 8 games for the season.

Finals will begin one week after four teams from each league have played over 12 games apiece. The top 6 teams in each league will be in the finals. Only one team is allowed per coach in any given final, and if more than one team from a coach is in the top of a league, the coach will choose which advances and which isn't counted for playoff contention.

Handicap rolls will be used. When possible, teams will edit their rosters before the game to accomodate for the handicap; sometimes, however, a team will have to just play with the handicap voluntarily. If no way is thought of to use a handicap, it must be rerolled before the game. The current list of handicaps that have to be rerolled is as follows:

23 - Biased Referee
25 - Greased Shoes
33 - Smelling Salts
42 - Grudge Match
51 - Bribe the Ref
61 - Bribe the Ref
65 - Iron Man

In addition, the following conventions will be used for the following handicaps:

11 - Appearance Fee - If the coach does not have enough in his treasury to cover the fee, simply mark the player as unavailable. Otherwise, the opposing team must voluntarily keep the player off the field until he agrees to deduct the amount rolled from his treasury after the game.
15 - I Am the Greatest! - Again, the coaches must voluntarily keep players off the field as needed.
16 - The opposing coach must voluntarily not use the foul option, or any player with secret weapons.
24 - Running Late - The opposing character must voluntarily keep these players off the field until a touchdown is scored or the half.
31 - Morley's Revenge - Roll for each player affected before each kickoff as suggested, and these players must be voluntarily kept off the field.
35 - Palmed Coin - Take the coin flip as normal, but if the person with the higher Team Rating wins it, he must choose what his opponent tells him to do.
36 - Scutt's Scroll of Weather Magic - This can be rerolled by the person who rolls it, if he wishes. Otherwise, the application must be restarted over and over until the desired weather is in effect.
43 - Doom & Gloom - The opposing team must end the first half with half of their rerolls unused (rounding down) to represent this.
45 - That Boy's Got Talent - Add another person to the roster as normal, unless the team already has 16 players. If so, reroll on the table.
46 - News Feature - Add an extra d6 x 10000 dollars to what the game automatically gives you instead of rolling a 2d6 as it says.
52 - In the Bag! - Once again, the 11 worst players must be put on voluntarily.
66 - Buzzing! - Give the player the jump up and frenzy traits as said, and add a trait called no hands as well. This will prevent him from picking up the ball.

The following options must be set the following ways in the client's options page on everyone's client:

Under Game Options:

SET: Weather, Kickoff Table, Piling On Always Falls, No Fumble From Range.
UNSET: No GFI AV Roll
Overtime will be set during all playoff games. Final and Semi-Final Game will be checked during the appropriate games in the playoffs.

Under BB2k1 Options:

UNSET: No Bonus MVPs
SET: Everything else.

User Options are up to the user.

If you haven't played yet, this is a great opportunity to step in!

With eyes only for the future, Swift Death opens the season with a win over the Random Axe.

Game log and team file attached.

The Random Axe played Swift Death in the first game of the season. It was frustrating going for the Orcs, with the rat-men overwhelming them, and keeping them off-kilter while the Gutter Runners scored twice. Possibly, the Orcs had not yet regained their momentum, with no injuries from anyone.

In the second, a desperate pass from an Orc Thrower trapped between two Linemen landed in the hands of the Blitzer it had been aimed at....who then failed a dodge roll and dropped it. However, the ball was kept out of Skaven hands, and in a heroic charge past a Stormvermin, touched down for an end result of 2-1.

(Damn, but Sable's positioning skills are nasty.)

Sable, I'm going to destroy you if I have to type that team name too many more times.

The Coldbloods kicked off their second season with a 3-2 win over the Chaos Dwarf team Ironbeard Nogginstompers. The 'Bloods got off to an early lead that the Nogginstompers were never quite able to close up.

It was a fun game, but not incredibly eventful. I killed one of his dwarfies, and he gave me a niggling injury to one of my Sauri.

Attached zip has both my team and the result file.

Sanguinary Reapers lost to Blackfist's boys 3-1 in the most dismal showing I've ever seen.

Nogginstompers lost to the Coldbloods 2-1 in a nearly exciting match.

Nogginstompers pounded the Ironbay Cardinal into the ground for a 2-1 win. 4 kills, 1 SI and a BH were inflicted onto the foe, and an Ogre was among the dead, killed in self defense. One of the other kills was a self-defense knockdown as well. The Cardinals would like me to pass on that surviving members have retired to safer pastures, and the team will not be taking the field again.

Current rosters attached.

There was a distressing smell of rotting meat on the field as the revitalised Random Axe faced the decidedly lacking-in-vitality Restless Corpses.

The Axe elected to kick, and were immediately hammered by the Mummies and Wights of the Corpses, especially after the Troll got knocked out. However, they managed to wrest the ball from the hands of the Corpses, inflict a broken arm on Duke Howa, and managed to make a long pass from Thrower to Blitzer, followed by a touchdown.

The second part of the first half was a defensive game, as the Undead formed a pack, which was quickly corralled by Orcs. A Wight who tried to break free to recieve a pass was brutalised, and the half ended 1-0.

The Undead kicked in the second half, and the ball was promptly scooped up, and readied for a pass. However, both parties of would-be recievers became entangled by Ghouls--though their vigorus efforts to get free resulted in a dead Ghoul. Ugecraw lumbered back onto the pitch just in time to get himself KO'd again, and Uruk Hai spent most of this half alternately being knocked over by Mummies and getting to his feet. The ball was plucked from Orc hands, and landed in clear ground. Following a brawl, it was plucked up by a Blitzer, and handed off to Ratz the Golbin, who scurried over and scored.

For the second half, a huge pile-up developed in the bottom of the pitch, with the unlucky Ghoul carrying trying and failing to sneak out. The ball fell into the crowd, and was thrown into the path of a Blitzer, who was within a turn of scoring....only I'd forgotten it was turn 8 by then.

Final result 2-0.

The Axe continues to gain fans, and has also enlisted a second Black Orc to bolster the front line.

As a sidenote, Kaz is due credit for a badly hurt on my players, which for some reason didn't show in the results. (Another BH was previously cured by the apothecary)

Corpses lose thier first game, and Ghoul Runner Flit is killed. Flit was the youngest Corpse at 254 years old. His loss has caused the Corpses' Team Rating to drop 11 points. Additionally, the Corpses were paid no gold after the game. Orc Manager Runwit Damoola has gone missing after booking the game.

If it was caused by a foul, push into the crowd, failed dodge or failed extra, it won't show for SPP since his players don't get credit for it.

Rat Runners just lost thier first second season game to Swift Death, 2-4. It was a great game where Death's new thrower proved a valuable asset to the team. The Runners were plagued by casualties, spending most of the game with 5-6 players BH and/or unconcious.

Additional Skills not in the Board Game:

undead, star, coach, infect, no hands

undead - an apothecary can not be used on this player even if
one is available.
star - marks this player as a star player and and they
will accumulate no new star player points.
<b>coach - any player with this skill will be banned from the
game when the coach is banned from the game.
(i.e. Argue the call on a foul and if the coach
is banned, this player will be banned)</b>
infect - a player who is killed by this player will
become infected with Nugle's Rot and be added
to the roster of the opposing team as a Rotter and
placed in the reserves.
no hands - the player cannot carry the ball. Any time the ball
bounces to, or is thrown to, this player the ball will
automatically scatter. Moving onto the ball square with
this player will cause the ball to scatter, but this will
not be a turnover.

Sablewyvern

And here's the roster.

LordBruticus
06-27-2003, 12:56 AM
The Restless Corpses lost their second game of the season, facing longtime rivals Swift Death. Corpses/Death games tend to be very bloody and savage, and this was no exception. The throngs of bloodthirsty fans were not disappointed as the casualty count reached into double digits. In addition to the carnage, this was a fairly high scoring game with Swift Death taking a 3-2 win in the last seconds of the game.

The younger mummy on the corpses, nicknamed "Knuckles", picked up 3 casualties in this game, and is being named as a player to watch in the future. Working alongside league casualty leader Lucky seems to have taught this youngster a thing or two as he rises to 9 Casualties in 10 Games.

Additionally, the Corpses picked up a pair of new players. A young Ghoul joined the ranks after the game, and Swift Death Lineman Scather Muckstench renounced death to play for the Corpses. I guess you just can't keep a dedicated player down.

Ice, I think I have 8 games for all my teams. The Bearded Skullcrackers have like 11 or 12, the rabble 9, and the Runners 17 games.

[edit- Wait, 8 games "for the season". Missed that part.]

IceShadow
06-27-2003, 10:34 AM
I'm slightly changing the prerequisites for adding a new team. It occurs to me that some players may not have teams in the lower division, or, if their only team in the lower division is retired, it shouldn't stop them from making a new one if they have an upper division team with less than eight games on the season. So, you only have to have all of your teams in the *lower* division with at least eight games to make a new one.

Also, the cup from last year will be the lower division cup, and something much more powerful will be the upper division cup (it won't unbalance things as much, since the upper division teams will be more powerful to start). I'm thinking about using the BloodBowl cup, but with a more reasonable winnings for the finals game (350k??).

-Ice

delor
06-27-2003, 11:48 AM
I don't think 350k is that unreasonable. It'd mostly ensure a steady stream of good replacements if anyone expensive dies, or a small flurry of freebooter hires; a team skilled enough to win the Blood Bowl probably has a pretty full roster of good players anyway, so it's not like it would be a huge gain for them.

Once we get a site up to automate this, are we going to be removing the team creation limitations? I would suggest we do so that people can try new teams without retiring old teams. (so they can play the old team some more when the new one gets boring)

Also, 350k boosts their TR way up, which will hit them in terms of winnings and handicaps. They'll be making less money, and be playing tougher games.

LordBruticus

The Sure Woodsmen open thier season with a tense win over the Drakwald Dragons. Only 8 of the Woodsmen were healthy enough to play, and Treeman Jack Lumber was nowhere to be found. The Dragons kicked off to start the game and quickly scored, capitalizing on a blitz to knock the elves off their game. Catcher Johan Krütz scored the Dragons' only point of the game.

The Woodsmen retaliated thanks to the help of newly recruited passer Elrond Hubbard. Hubbard broke out of a pack of Dragon Blitzers to throw an amazing pass two-thirds of the way down the field. Lineman Leon Eagler caught the long pass and ran the ball in to tie the game.

The remainder of the first half was a desperate play by the outnumbered, outmuscled and outarmored elves to stop the Dragons from scoring a second time. They succeed, in large part to Wardancer Frank Greene's agile moving, leaping and blocking. The Dragons were held to just beyond the line of scrimmage but at a cost, 2 injured elves.

The second half opened up with a grim Woodsmen team, consisting of only 6 elves and the returned Treeman, taking the pitch. The Dragons were ready to roll up the field and take the game.

The Woodsmen forced the Dragons to play a runnning game, and Wardancer Frank Greene was again the star of the half as he dashed deep into enemy terrortory to recover the ball. The Woodsmen spent the rest of the game playing a desperate keep-away play to try to salavage a win by burning the clock. In the last seconds, it was again Frank Greene that ran in the winning touchdown to secure the Woodsmen 2-1 win.

Thus, we will continue to use the bot in the channel for skill and aging rolls. Not that I don't trust anyone, but it's better to have witnesses, so that people aren't, in Sable's words, "Tempted to misread that -1ST ageing result."

It has come to my attention that the experimental teams do not display correctly in 6.0 - that is, apart from Khemrians and Necromantics, players are represented by letters/circles instead of icons.

This situation can be rectified by replacing the icon.ini file in the bloodbowl root directory with the one attached here. (Just unzip into the bbowl root directory.) To ensure players display correctly, rosters should be filled in as follows:

Khemri teams should be listed by their full title, Khemrian.

Nurgle's Rotters must be spelled with the apostrophe.

Players not unique to an experimental team's roster should be listed as [race] [position].

Frex: Orc Black Orc, Skaven Gutter Runner, Wood Elf Thrower.

Beastmen and Chaos Warriors should be listed as Chaos Beastmen and Chaos Warriors (Chaos Chaos Warrior is not necessary).

Chaos Marauders are simply Marauders.

Nurgle Rotters are simply Rotters.

Vampire Thralls are simply Thralls.

Finally, Goblins in Ogre teams are Goblins, not Goblin Goblins.

The second match against the Restless Corpses could politely be described as a game of mixed fortunes, and impolitely described as a catastrophe.

From the start, luck was with the Corpses, notching up two dead linemen and hobbling a Black Orc in the first half! However, an interception led to a touchdown for the Orcs.

In the second half, it was a comedy of errors, as nobody on either team proved able to do....anything. I've never seen so many 1's before.... The Undead eventually scored, and looked set to do it again. But somehow, despite being down 4 knocked out players, the Axe managed to trap the Ghouls and keep them from getting the ball clear. Final score 1-1.

A new Lineman has been enlisted, and revenge is being thirsted for....on someone or other.

Olaf's Ravishing Reptile Girls had their first win, soundly defeating the new Estallian Knights. Without doubt, the highlight was G8r Boy, the Kroxigor, plowing straight into a mass of Knights trying vainly to protect the ball carrier in a dwarven or undead style box offense.

And, the Ironbeard Nogginstompers came away with wins in their games against the Army of Darkness and the Glade Guard. The inexperienced Army was simply outmatched. OTOH, the Glade Guard began well, with an excellent opening defense that left the 'Stompers perplexed. The team regained its composure quickly, however, and forced the Guard into a close, blocking game that the fragile elves were unable to handle.

The Skaven were suffering from the offset, with three players unable to make the match due to serious injuries and niggling pain, including both the Stormvermin. The powerful Orc front line quickly pulverised the unlucky Skaven, and there was little serious opposition to their grabbing the ball and making two touchdowns. In the second half, a Gutter Runner heroically managed to break free and score, but the ratmen were too outnumbered to put up serious opposition--it didn't help to have two additional players banned for fouling.

There was a horrible moment when Uruk Hai was feared dead. Fortunately, prompt attention from the apothecary allowed him to keep on playing.

Final score 3-1.

Swift Death defeated the Doomrats 4-2. In a fairly brutal, but mainly uneventful game, the Doomrats shocked the bloodbowl world with particularly dastardly tactics in the dying moments.

With no hope of scoring, or even retrieving the ball, the Doomrats set up their cowardly play. Despised Doomrat Basta Hertim leapt upon the downed and helpless Arbec Ferrelwraith, driving his heel into the gutter runner's eye and causing serious damage. Obviously, however, this was merely a ploy to distract the Swift Death apothecary, for while he was rushing out to tend to the injured Arbec, Basta's teammate, Seva Limb, blitzed Swift Death star runner Uvan Chaos brother. Uvan was driven into the ground, shattering ribs and rupturing several internal organs. While it may have been possible to help the poor, late gutter runner, it was not until after Arbec had been tended to that anyone realised the damage that had been done -- and by that time it was already too late.

Let it thus be known that Swift Death declares an eternal feud with the Skitterleap Doomrats. Wherever they go, Swift Death shall follow and wreak havok; slaying their men, taking their women, and feasting upon their young. Let no team offer them succour, or pass up an opportunity to foul, but instead trample their corpses into the turf, that these Doomedrats may rue forever the day upon which they first took up the pig skin of Nuffle.

Olaf's Ravishing Reptile Girls went back up against new human team the Estellian Knights. Although the Knight's put up much more of a fight the second time around, they were ultimately outclassed by the relentless pressure of Olaf, his Ravishing Girls, and their dashing Reptiles. As an added bonus, it seems that the girls are beginning to really come to terms with big-league bloodbowl, and are starting to pick up some skills.

Scoreline: 2-1, Olaf and the Girls.

This game was followed by a much harder clash for the Knights, who went up against second division hard-hitters, the Ironbeard Nogginstompers. An early KO on the Knight's newly acquired Ogre saw the Nogginstompers take the upper-hand and never relinquish it - the inexperienced ogre wasn't coherent enough to head back out onto the field until well after the final whistle.

Some heavy blocking both ways made for an interesting game, and Auguruth was badly hurt in a surprise block from an unsupported linemen, who -- common sense would seem to indicate -- had no business even thinking about taking the fight to the huge bull centaur.

In other news, Nogginstomper staff and local authorities are investigating possible links between the Knights and a large paper-weight that fell from the change-room ceiling onto Tinkerbell shortly before the game. Fortunately, the minotaur was only mildly stunned by the "accident", but the weight did have quite sharp, pointy corners, so things could have been much worse.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that invistigators believe the incredibly secret Society of Bumbling Assassins may have been involved.

Scoreline: 2-1, Nogginstompers.

It was a fine day as the Random Axe and Midnight Avengers clashed. Their last match the previous season had been a 1-1 draw, and both teams were looking for some closure.

The Avengers received, and managed to pass the ball, scoring in short order. The Orcs fought back in the next run, keeping the pressure on the Elves. However, tragedy struck when Skum the goblin had the ball and ran for the endzone, past whole groups of Dark Elves, only to trip and fall as he went into the endzone, losing the ball, and having no time to regain it!

(three dodge rolls passed, then a double 1 to go for it!)

In the second half, the Orcs tried to exploit their passing game, but lost precious time when first the thrower was stunned, and then when it was thrown, the reciever dropped it. But a Blitzer grabbed the ball and made it to the endzone. 1-1.

With not much time left, and the Elves recieving, the Orcs didn't seem to be in a very good position. But despite the furious dodging of the Avengers, they had been worn down, with only nine men left on the pitch. A Lineman managed to get next to the Thrower, and tripped him up as he tried to get away. In the very last Oc turn, the ball was grabbed and a touchdown made!

The excellent record of the Axe vs Dark Elves stands. However, fan member ship continues to fluctuate.

It is a sad day. One of the stars and original team members of the Random Axe, Groundslamma, was killed in action against the Righteous Rabble today. Tragically, the Apothecary was unconscious due to suspicious drugs in his drink, and did not save him. However, despite this, and a concussed Black Orc, they exacted a bloody revenge upon the humans, pounding them to bits. Five humans were carried off the field. Two have lingering injuries, and one left the stadium in a casket again. The final score was three-one.

I've played quite a few games without posting. Here, I think, is a complete summary:

Olaf's Ravishing Reptile Girls

Defeated the Sure Woodsmen 2-1. Disconent in the Woodsmen's dugout implied the team may soon be disbanding.

Wiped the field with the newly-formed Spear-Shaker Sisters in a 3-0 win.

Having not played strength teams in quite a while, made some mistakes early against the Rotters, costing the Girls a possible win. In the end, a 1-all draw.

Swift Death

Troubled by a depleted roster after some particularly brutal games, with only two experienced gutter runners and verging on serious financial trouble, Swift Death nevertheless managed a comprehensive 3-1 win against the Random Axe. As per the norm, they suffered heavily, but escaped without serious long term injury.

Ironbeard Nogginstompers

In a riot-shortened match, the Nogginstompers defeated the Estellian Knights once more, this time 2-0. Tinkerbell badly hurt the Knight's ogre just before the riot that caused an abrupt halt to play. After the match, as she revelled in the bloodshed, the minotaur was seen to contort in sudden pain, before sprouting some rather large and nasty tentacles.

Newly betentacled, Tinkerbell decided she deserved more money to take the field against the Bearded Skullcrackers. This extra cash was not forthcoming, and the minotaur proceeded to sulk on the sidelines as the Nogginstompers unwisely opened the match with an attempt to block straight through the Skullcracker defense. A slow, hard-hitting match ensued, but without Tinkerbell the Nogginstompers could make no headway, and went down 0-1.

North Sunnydale Legion
New Necromantic team the Legion opened it's account with a 3-0 win over the Estellian Knights, leaving their opponents standing in surprise as Oz the werewolf and Makutha the wight burst through the opposition lines twice in succession to lay out the ball carrier and run in early touchdowns. Knight Blitzer Luther was killed in the first half, but returned to play against his former team-mates.

Eager for revenge, the Knights faced up for a second match against the Legion, with an identical scoreline. Knights fans, obviously distraught at seeing Luther forming up on the line of scrimmage for every drive, stunned him with a rock and one stage, and he was later seriously injured by his former friends.

Finally, the Legion took on the Masters of Mithril. What ensued was a sudden and pathetic turn of fortune, as wights and ghouls, intimidated by this much superior team, found themselves incapable of picking up the ball. Several scoring chances were thrown away, and the Legion went down 0-2.

All rosters attached.

Updated MOM roster after win over North Sunnydale Legion. It was an interesting game.

The undead just couldn't pick up the ball, and weren't helped when their werewolf got badly hurt. They nearly scored, but the agility of the elves proved too much.

I didn't mind seeing the Necromantic team in action, and to be honest, they don't look too bad. The flesh golems are a real problem, with stand-firm as a starting trait! The wolf is the teams main weakness, as it costs 120k, and can't regenerate. If it were up to me, I'd allow an apoth in the team to be used on it.

The Sisters clashed with the Dragons today at high noon. Initially, the Dragons had the advantage, overwhelming the Amazon defence, and sending three players off the pitch. They touched down with little fuss, and their oponents could not find a weak spot in their defences quickly enough to score.

However, during the second kick-off, the Amazon fans invaded the pitch! Five Dragons were knocked out or badly hurt, and the suddenly depleted line was overwhelmed. Cannily hanging back, the Amazons passed off the ball, and sent three players running for the endzone. A handoff later, and Titania notched up a touchdown.

The remainer of the game was mainly a holding action, with the Sisters containing the Dragon push down the pitch, exploting their mobility to make sure the humans couldn't just shove them aside. Two players broke off, and ran up the pitch, but the pass failed, and the ball was grabbed by Helena, who managed to retain it despite repeated blockings. But it was all for naught--the Dragons were out of time.

Final score 1-1. A new Thrower and Linewoman swell the roster after a very generous fee.

Olaf's Ravishing Reptile Girls started their match against the Masters of Mithril inauspiciously, with poor ball-handling skills seeing the elves dash through for an early touchdown. The second drive went much better for the Girls, scoring just on the end of the half, despite losing G8r Boy to a vicious foul.

In the second half, with the Masters on offense, the Girls managed to pin all the elves' passing options, before Olaf broke through the line, took down the Masters' thrower and scored.

The final drive went much like the first of the half. While the Masters broke through the line of scrimmage easily, they were unable to support their catchers and dragon warriors, who were mobbed by Reptile Girl wingers. The Girls simply held down all elven scoring options until time ran out.

Final result, a 2-1 win.

Another game, another casualty for the Random Axe, who interestingly, have had two serious injuries to seven deaths so far. Laws of averages, who needs 'em?

Anyway, the Axe proved unable to actually injure any of the Rat Runners early on. Eventually, a pass was made, and a touchdown scored. The Runners used the standard one-turn-scoring drill, and the Axe couldn't equalise due to getting the distance a pass can be done at wrong.

Half two, another one-turner, inevitable as clockwork, and then Orcs rumbling up the centre over several turns. Squasher the Rat Ogre killed Brutuh, the Black Orc. The Axe hung on before sending their Thrower over the line, determined not to give the Skaven another turn to score with the Gutter Runner from hell.

Final score 2-2. FF rises.

Olaf's Girls went back up against the Masters of Mithril, and the crowd was not disappointed.

The last match between these two teams may have left the Masters with a fear of the passing game, as this time they decided to sideline their thrower and try running through the Girl's defense instead. This tactic fell apart when Bright Elfman fell going for an extra.

Amazon thrower Gwendolyn swooped on the ball, and passed to Ailinulindal on the opposite widezone. As the Masters converged on her, Ailinulindal switched play back to the left wing with a pass to Teyrissa, who caught under close pressure and managed to stave of all attempts to knock her down. As the Masters went charging across the field to lock down Olaf and his Girls, Teyrissa switched play yet again, passing to Kyla back on the right widezone, who ran in the TD.

The second half saw the Saurus Scaly Joe O'Neil begin with the ball after a touchback. Olaf and the Girls made slow progress up the field, but were eventually pinned by the Masters. Finally, Joe was knocked down and the ball spilled free -- but the elves had paid dearly for this scoring chance, with half the team off the field.

Bright Elfman got his hands on the ball, and redeemed his first half error, levelling the game.

The final drive saw Olaf and his Ravishing Reptile Girls misjudge their run to the endzone. As the seconds disappeared, only Olaf himself was in scoring range, but he was mobbed by the high elves, who didn't cease sticking the boot in until it was clear he wouldn't be getting back up in a hurry. This elvish thuggery was no doubt fueled by the final casualty statistics:

Masters of Mithril: 3 Badly Hurt, 2 Seriously Injured and star thrower Suren Through dead. No doubt the crippling damage sustained by lineman Stan Dublee in the last game only added to their rage.

Final Result: 1-1

Today, two teams composed of lovers of the fine sport of Blood Bowl gathered to play a gentlemanly game in a spirit of friendly competition and sportsmanship, for the sake of pure entertainment. Elsewhere, a bunch of Orcs were having a brawl.

Blackfist's Boyz and the Random Axe clashed. The Axe had a very inauspicious start. The Troll attempted to punch the Ogre, double-skulled, failed the Pro check, and seriously injured himself! Being a Troll, he regenerated, but the defensive line was left underpowered and the Axe couldn't stop the Thrower running through and scoring.

The Axe needed to equalise, and quickly. they tried probing, trying to get a potential catcher through Most of them were covered, however. A pair of Blitzers trapped at the bottom left managed to punch their way free, and recieved a long pass, scoring in the dying moments of the first half.

In the second half, the unruly fans rioted, holding up the game for more than half of the half. The Boyz kicked, and it was grabbed by the Axe. Aware that time was not on their side, the Axe made an all-or-nothing long bomb to a lone Blitzer. It sailed over the heads of two Black Orcs, and landed in his hands. A Goblin bravely attempted to stop him, but was swept aside, and a last minute touchdown put the Axe ahead.

Final score 2-1. FF increases--I can't recall when it last stayed steady.

Two of my teams played the Unholy Union today.

First up were the Spear-Shaker Sisters facing the Chaos crew. It was a hard game, and two serious injuries will make life hard for the team. Pouring rain added to their woes, too. Despite being three players down, they held off the Chaos team for the entire first half, and almost for the second, but they scored on the very last turn.

Next were the new Old World team, Middenheim United. Despite being overwhelmed by the Union, the mixed team managed to hold their own, and the Dwarves eventually started returning some of the beating they were getting. The team's Wardancer darted in, and scragged the Gutter Runner, grabbing the ball on his way out. After some manouvering, he sprinted to the other end of the pitch and scored. He repeated this trick early in the second half, and came up trumps again when the Gutter Runner was within sight of the endzone, somehow making four dodge rolls in a row to get the Runner before passing the ball out of danger on the next and last turn.

(Why didn't I just have him Leap? Because I forgot about that skill.)

Final score 2-0. With a handsome profit, United have added Ash the Treeman to their roster.

The Random Axe and the Skitterleap Doomrats, yesterday.

The sun was beaming, and the stalls were packed, with 73,000 fans watching the Orcs and Skaven clash. They were not disappointed, as very violent start to the game left two Orcs unconscious, and a seriously injured Skaven player, to say nothing of a Rat Ogre KO'd by a high-velocity Troll fist. An unlucky Stormvermin was nearly killed, but saved by the medic.

Eventually, the Orcs managed to get a squad of Blitzers over to the other side, and scored. In the next kickoff, the Skaven produced some good handwork from the Thrower and Gutter Runners, getting them away, and equalising.

However, by the second half, it was becoming clear that the Orcs were wining through simple attrition. The Rat Ogre got KO'd again, and two touchdowns later, one from a Goblin, the other from the new Blitzer, there were four injured players. There were two impressive moments from the Skaven, one where a crazed Stormvermin blocked the Troll and managed to knock him down! The other was when the Gutter Runner defied a diving tackle from Gnorra the Goblin, and scored a goal. Final score, however, was 3-2 to the Orcs.

Plainly pleased with the violence, Axe fans have again increased in number.

Greetings all,

RR have retired and formed a traveling whoopie cushion quintet to entertain the BB fans at games. A quintet was all they could form after their last game against the North Sunnydale Legion.....ouch!

It was a particularly nasty game..I knew I would get casualties, but so many? The team doctor had obviously been bribed, as even he failed to keep the goblins alive. When an ogre bit the dust, I knew it was time to say goodbye to this team.

I think my mistake was coming from a goblin team focus to a ogre team. I really should have taken more than three Ogres..in the goblin team, at least you can have a heap of reserves, but the 8 limit of goblins in the Ogre team makes that impossible.

I will be sumbitting a new team, but as to what, I'm not sure. Once the secret weapons are ironed out in the Java App, I may even come back to a goblin team (minus the Ogres, alas) for a bit of fun.

Winning kickoff table stuff doesn't hurt, either.

Big Guys...I like Ogres. Only real downside is the bonehead roll, which most big guys have anyhow, and pretty decent movement on top of it. Rat Ogres come in second, with the high movement, agility, and ability to take physical traits, but the wild animal thing is a bit much for me.

I don't like playing Skaven teams. Mostly because we have SO MANY of them. :D

ere's my two cents...

I really agree here. Having started with a team with a low FF (4), I've really suffered at times, thanks to lack of cash and Kick off results. Starting to think that any starting FF under 6 is a worry.

Ogre is a favourite, although I'm beginning to have a great respect for the Minotaur and Rat Ogre. I agree that Wild Animal is a downside, but at least you're guarenteed that the big fella will do something every turn. I'm going to be interested to see how the new Nurgle Beast goes.

For me, well I haven't played enough games with different teams to form a valid opinion. But....Chaos dwarf are a real pain, and Lustrian with two big guys hurts too!

FF: important.

Big Guy: the Wild Animals have frenzy. I didn't realise it until someone pointed out he's always grabs frenzy for his big guys when he can, and I played with some non-frenzy big guys, but it makes a huge difference.

You're at a big disadvantage until you get block. After that, you're in the money. So, minotaur and rat ogre are the go.

Don't have any teams I really hate playing against. CyberE's Chaos Juggernauts, if you want to get really specific. :D Other than that, dwarves tend to be a handful. Block + Tackle + Guard everywhere = ouch.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT!!

Sable Wyvern (that's me!) has decided to take the Khemri Challenge (tm).

Yes, you heard right.

A posse of Strength 5 wrapped in 1.3km of old bandages; intestines and brain-matter stored in clay jugs beside the field. Slow, relentless, and without mercy. Also without anything resembling an ability to handle the ball.

Behold,

The North Sunnydale Legion and Middenheim United played today, in a game that would see some truly outrageous fortune.

The game started off unsurprisingly, with the living dead pushing down the middle. Despite delaying tactics, the ball was carried over the line by a Ghoul. United lacked the time to do anything to equalise in the first half.

The second half opened with the Treeman knocking himself down, and then United somehow went on to KO two Wights and a Zombie in one turn! They got the ball, and the Wardancer went headlong towards the endzone.

Incredibly, the Wood Elf was felled by a lone Zombie, and badly hurt. The apothecary then failed to do anything. With the ball free, it was first taken by a Wight, then a failed attempt be the Thrower to grab it led to it landing in the Treeman's hands. He was then improbably knocked down by a lone Wight, and the ball went down the pitch in the hands of a Ghoul, who tripped and fell, leaving it next to a werewolf, who defied tackle zones to grab it and score on the last turn.

Postgame made up for it, though. I now have a STR 4 Wardancer on my roster.

1) FF....just how important to you is a high starting FF?

2) Which is your favourite Big Guy? Why?

3) Which team do you hate the most to play? Why?

Cheers big ears...

1: Very. When you get 90k after your first game, you'll appreciate it.

2: Trolls are good value for money. A lot of the time, you will be fighting in a lineup, so Really Stupid won't be any worse than Bone Head, and Regenerate can be worth it's weight in gold. Kroxigors are a close second. Big Guys can be a pain in the butt starting out, but once they get skills, they're bad news. Currently, my Troll has Block, Frenzy, Pro (for when the Really Stupid roll fails) and Guard. Don't make him angry, you wouldn't like him when he's angry.

3: Skaven, pure and simple. Pretty much any experienced Skaven team will have Gutter Runners with the standard issue quick-scoring package (Very Long Legs, Sprint, Sure Feet), and it's just plain annoying to watch them always shoot off into the great blue yonder with the ball. I've found that either you get the Gutter Runners quickly, and break them, or else you'll lose.

It's pretty important, although I think some high-armor teams (the Dwarves, for example) can get away without it. My Bearded Skullcrackers got off to a really rocky start due to thier low FF and some early casualties, but now they're winning most of the games they're playing and still have a very low (4 of 5) FF.

Once we add extra things that cost money (freebooters, stars, secret weapons), I imagine this could change, though.

If only the treemen had one more point of movement, I'd say them because they lack any traits that make them unreliable in play (when they're actually available to play). Since they only stand up 50% of the time, though, they're still so inconsistant.

I guess I'd say the Ogre. He's a good sturdy guy without Wild Animal or Frenzy, which are really annoying for players that can't use rerolls.

Since I've got one Skaven team (nothing is faster than me!) and one Dwarven team (dodge? what dodge?), speed teams don't bother me. Most strength teams don't bother me that much either, because my Skaven can dodge away from them and almost nothing outblocks my Dwarves. I'd say it's a tie between really wounding teams (*cough*Restless Corpses*cough*) and teams with a strong passing game. Passing didn't seem to be a huge factor in the first season, but recently I've been seeing some really good passing plays.

(by the way, Ice, as you may have guessed things didn't quite as planned for getting the site up; I had less time that I thought and the client wasn't liking the team files I was producing. Hopefully this weekend I'll manage to actually get it up.)

Yeah. If you need a take-down date, two weeks from now would be good. As I said, I'm hoping to get the site up to "will handle game results" level by this weekend, but I also said that about last weekend so a little more buffer time would be nice.

By the way, Ice, there's another gaming forum I frequent which I might be able to recruit some more players from. I was planning on posting there with a link to the site after I finish it. That might help boost our active player base above the five or so it is right now.

After three outings, the Vengeance of Sutekh is faring suprisingly well.

In their first game they encountered the Lustrian Glacial Hearts, also playing their first match. Things went much as would be expected, a couple of casualties inflicted in a 1-nil loss. Interestingly, there were a few turns in which the Vengeance actually had possession of the ball.

The next match was against the more experienced Old Worlders, Middenheim United. The Vengeance managed a more than respectable 1-all draw. Casualties inflicted also increased from 2 to 3.

The final game was a rematch against the Glacial Hearts. This game was a shock victory for the Vengeance, who hammered the Lustrians hard, managed an intercept right at the end, and ran away 2-nil.

With two new throwers in the lineup, three out of four mummies with block, and a steadily growing fan-base (FF up to 10), the Vengeance of Sutkeh looks set to make many a blood bowl team pay for their disturbed rest.

The Spear-Shaker Sisters took on the Masters of Mithril. Their performance could politely be described as lacking and impolitely described as awful. The Amazons displayed a near-total inability to block, or even dodge out of the way of their enemies. The only consolation was the repeated failures of the Lion Warriors to pick up the ball, but that didn't stop them from winning 3-0, and causing two serious injuries. The future of this team is in doubt.

Middenheim united took on the Venegance of Sutekh, and things started going wrong from the start, as lucky handicap table results cost United their only reroll and caused the Treeman to miss all the game (usually he just misses the first half!). This streak of foul luck continued through the game, as they displayed a marked inability to injure their AV 7 enemies. The Dwarfs had the thankless task of getting hammered by Mummies turn after turn, and two of them ended the game badly hurt.

For the first half, nobody could get the ball, but kept players crowding round it to stop the other side doing so. In the second, some nice dodging from the Wardancer finally secured a touchdown. The next kick, the Undead made a determined thrust for the endzone, but were stalled until a Tomb Guardian seized the ball (a feat in itself!) and made it to the endzone on the last turn. Score 1-1.

Post-game, United have purchased two new players from across the Old World--Nobby Babbage, a Halfling from the Moot, and Kadath, an Ogre from the cold wastes around Kislev.

The Rat Runners and Random Axe played again today. The Skaven unsurprisingly scored in one turn, and then the game proper began, with the Orcs charging down the centre, and performing some handwork and quick passing to keep the ball away from the Skaven. A Lineman touched down.

The Orcs adopted a strategy of falling back, and making a line of players near the back of the pitch. Unfortunately, Gnorra the Goblin, put there for his Diving Tackle, got taken double-teamed by Gutter Runners, and another TD followed. At the end of the game, the Orcs had the ball, but just could not make it to the thrower for a pass to the waiting Blitzers.

In the second half, the Orcs got brutal. Prone bodies piled up in the Badly Hurt and KO'd boxes (and one poor soul was almost killed) The Troll got KO'd as well, but that didn't stop the Orcs. By the end, there were only four players left, not enough to stop the Orcs scoring courtesy of Ratz the Goblin.

In the last drive, the Orcs set their preventative line up right on the touchdown line. With a Black Orc, Troll, and two Linemen holding the front line, they managed to hold off the Skaven until the very last turn. A Gutter Runner had the ball! He charged towards the line....and went through the tackle zone of a Tackling Blitzer. Goodnight from him, and a 2-2 draw. Let it be known that Speedy Gonzalez there is not unstoppable!

I now have a second Black Orc (let's hope he doesn't get seriously injured quite as quickly as the two before him did), a sure-footed goblin, and a Black orc who can pile on.

He still put in a better performance than your Rat Ogre. :p

Oh yes, something really strange happened. Partway through, the program went wonky, so we tried to releoad, but it didn't work. So we agreed to start with each of us with a TD (as I was about to score) and on Turn 4. Each of us would put down the minimum of 3 players, and not stop the other one scoring. We'd delay until Turn 4, and then I'd score, and we'd start properly.

That was the plan, until his Thrower somehow failed something like eight 3+ rolls to pick up the ball in a row! It was tragicomic. If only it had happened in the game proper, though.

Haven't updated in a while so here goes.

Game 1: Masters took on Olaf's Ravishing Reptilian girls, and it was a tough game. The reptiles took the lead, and their combination of big guys and block/dodgers worked well. Suren Through, 33SP (8 for the game!) AG5 Accurate was killed by a mere Amazon, and the Masters weren't happy.

The Girls would have won too, if a lucky tackle spilled the ball to a lone Dragon warrior, and an equalizer was found. MOM managed to hold Olaf back from the touch line in the dying minutes, and a 1-1 draw resulted.

Game 2: A rematch between the North Sunnydale Legion, and the Masters were bent on dominating early. Sable had some seriously bad luck in going-for-it and blocking with his Werewolves, and this lead to the first touchdown.

Masters managed to score again, as Sable continued to have bad luck picking up the ball and blocking. Masters won 2-0, and managed to get another Lion Warrior.

Game 3: The Spear Shaker sisters next, and MOM dominated from the word go. 2 SI, 2-0 score line, and it might have been a whole lot worse if the elves had picked up the ball more often. Elemental wasn't happy with his team, but he soldiered on and made things tough for MOM to the end of the game.

Cheers

Olden's Golden, against my better judgement, went up against the Vengence of Sutekh.

The mummies possed a massive problem (duh!), and but the first drive nearly worked. My Ogre combined with my Wardancer managed to collapse on of the wings, and with the dwarves form a wall to sheild my thrower in once he picked up the ball....I said 'ONCE' he picked up the ball!!!!!!!!

He didn't, and Sable pounced. I had to rush (as fast as dwarves can) the line back to resecure the ball, but it was too late. Sable surrounded it, and just waited for chance to eventually allow one of his AG2 players to pick it up. Score, 1-0 to the bandage hogs.

The next drive saw things go better, with the same tactics as above used, only this time, the ball was picked up, and handed over to the wardancer. Unfortunetly, Sable had planned for this, and managed to block my wall in mid-advance. we fought over the ball for the rest of the half, and at one stage 3 mummies and a tomb guard were KO'd!, but they recovered for the second half.

The next half saw my Ogre and Wardancer get BH (thank the GODS!) a dwarf get concussion, and a human lineman cark it, as Sable took revenge for my fouling last half. A very freakish ball bounce saw a lineman grab the ball, and with 3 go fo it's in two movements, he managed to score on the 8th turn and steal the tie!

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my team, and while the loss of the lineman was bad, not terminal for the team. A few big wins will hopefully set me right again, although the fans weren't impressed with the performance.

Cheers

Played the Vengeance. Let me sum up the match for ya:

Has a 1-in-6 chance of hitting the Wardancer carrying the ball. 6.

1-in-6 chance of picking up the ball, which is in two tackle zones. 6

1-in-6 (with a reroll) chance of passing it from there. 6

2-in-6 chance of catching it. 6

Not much I could really do against that sort of mojo. At least the final result was only 1-0.

Good news everyone...the automated website is ALMOST to a point where we can use it for our games. Just a couple more kinks to iron out...and then I'll need people to make a login, and a "dummy" team for each of their teams (I'll go in and edit each team...I'll get rosters from you after your dummy teams are made).

Delor: The roster files look ok, but when I load them into the team editor, the team rating comes out at -1 instead of 100. Is there a problem with it?

-Ice

delor
07-21-2003, 08:23 PM
Not sure about the team rating thing. I'll look into it.

A bigger problem is the results file parsing NOT WORKING. Well, about 60% of it works. But it only gives one player attributes and if a player gains skills instead of giving them a skill it deletes all thier skills. So, that needs working out before the site's finished. I tried to get it working on Sunday, but the problem was so elusive I couldn't find it and had to go to sleep.

I'm working on it a bit more tonight and I'll work on it again tommorrow. I've worked out the "deleting thier skills" part, I think. Hopefully it won't take much more time to debug.

The site's coming, folks... Really... :D

I'll post here as soon as it's working.

delor
07-21-2003, 08:55 PM
Ice, why do you need to use the team editor for the team files? Once I fix the results file parsing, you should be able to do everything through the website so as long as the java client's parsing it properly I don't think it matters.

[edit- As of me going to sleep tonight (Monday), it's still not working. Plus side, it looks like I've gotten it to give skills properly. It's still not fully recognizing who is getting SPP, though.]

IceShadow
07-22-2003, 01:17 AM
Two reasons: 1) We will still need to manually do handicaps, and 2) I have found that the team editor program is a good way to predict if the client will read the file accurately. If the Team Editor program reads TR at -1 instead of 100, the client may as well.

-Ice

delor
07-22-2003, 06:12 AM
Good point on the handicaps, at least in the short term. I'll look into that, then. The client thing could be tested just by seeing if it gives bonus MVPs or not when 2 teams of disparate TRs play.

delor
07-22-2003, 09:24 PM
As an update, I still don't have the team rating thing fixed, but results files are read properly now and I have an interface for giving your players new skills. As soon as I add the "skill added" page, it should be fully functional for updating teams and stuff.

I probably won't be able to put that much time into the site tommorrow due to a weekly RPG session I run but I'll try to find some time. As soon as I finish the skill interface, fix a few minor bugs, and patch a few security issues we should be good to go. Right now I'm leaning towards being ready by Thursday.

Oh, and if everyone could post the username they intend on using (case sensative) and the latest version of all of the teams they want to use it would be nice. Then I can start entering them into the database.

Ice, if you have time feel free to enter any teams into the DB that you want; I don't think anything I do should screw up existing data anymore. You can e-mail me with any questions about the format if you need it. The relevate DBs are "teams" and "players". If you do do that, be sure to double check that the team file you're entering is accurate; I've only entered one team, The Random Axe, and I already think I found a mistake in the team file he posted in the form of a miscalculated Team Rating.

However nobody should try to modify thier team or submit results through the page until I say it's ready, since I'm still working on it and you stand a decent chance of messing up your team data.

Ok, the site (http://www.iceshadow.com/rpgbb/) should be ready for use. You can create teams, manage them, and submit results freely.

There are a few omitted features (the Ogre team, records of previous games played) and a few bugs (Chaos Pact can hire as many Chaos Beastmen as they want right now), but I'll get around to dealing with those things as soon as I have the time. If you find a bug, please post it here. When the thread becomes de-sticky, you can e-mail me at the e-mail addy visible in my profile with bug reports.

Post your site login and the latest version of your team here so Ice or I can add it to the roster.

Right now, it's pretty barebones but I'll be adding new content (league rules, the ability to have season finals, auto-handicaps, enhanced stats) as rapidly as my free time and patience for web design permit.

I'd like to do the entry of existing teams like this:

A) You log into the site, and register with a username and password. PLEASE use the same username you use on RPG.net.

B) Create your team, but don't purchase anything yet. Use your exisiting rerolls and fan factor. If you have higher than FF 9, just put in FF 9.

C) Send your team to me. I will update your finances to have enough to purchase everything on your team.

D) Buy all of your players, coaches, apothecaries, etc.

E) I will adjust skills, injuries, and stats on players from the roster you have sent to me. FF will be adjusted, if it is too low.

It may sound complicated, but it's the best way to get used to the website, and the easiest way for me to enter all the data I need to enter.

Definately keep backups until we're sure the system works.

If I might propose, with only 4 or 5 active players having "finals" is somewhat silly. I suggest we simply keep running as is, and don't count wins and losses, until we get some fresh blood. [edit- I've removed the single quotes from the team names for now. I'll try to make it possible for them to have them there later, to make the "Something's Something" team names possible.]

Another last-turn loss for Middenheim United, in both halves. Very frustrating, but they were facing a far superior team (the Bearded Skullcrackers) so little wonder. The highlight was the Runner injuring himself trying to go for it, but all this meant was that his the other, more experienced one, could take the field and score the second TD. Final score 2-1.

And another frustrating game, as the Random Axe managed every roll except the ones that mattered. And of course, a riot when recieveing. 2-0 loss to the Nogginstompers.

Elemental, did you gain any skills through games submitted to the website last night? I discovered a bug with the aging system after playing Sable last night.

I've manually corrected Sable and my teams, and I've located and fixed the bug, but if any of your players went up a rank after playing last night, we should manually re-roll thier aging checks.

[I've also fixed some problems relating to SPP acceditation for TDs and INTs, added a "Logout" button, and started work on the statistics section. I think I've gotten a good set of tests in so hopefully the site should be reasonably reliable without me on-hand to fix it, but keep a wary eye open for bugs and notify me if you see anything. Right now one issue I know of is teams with Allies being able to buy players that they shouldn't be able too or too many of one position. Don't abuse it for now; I'll fix it as soon as I have time.]

Well, my Thrower gained a skill (Kick), and gained a niggling injury, presumably through ageing. That's the first ageing result I've failed in any team with any player.

delor

Well, the good news is that you did gain the niggling while the bug was in effect, so I had it re-rolled. The bad news is that being fairly old (51 SPP), Cadgitt ages on a 5 or lower and did age even with the proper target number.

Sable and I re-rolled our team's aging rolls last night and fixed them, and I've fixed the problem and tested the new system, so this shouldn't happen with future aging rolls.

As a general update:

I've updated the site to properly limit the names of teams and players. Also, I manually went through all of the teams and players and fixed thier names; I think I got everything. (Although I left G8r Boy with a number in his name just because it's a cool name) Tonight, I'm going to try to fix teams with allies (Chaos Pact, Lustrian, Old World) so they can't hire things they shouldn't be able to. If I have time, I'm also going to add instructions on how to play and links to the files you'll need. Once I've done all that the site should be ready to direct potential new players to.

I've also started work on keeping a record of previous games, although a strange bug preventing me from submitting my results prevented me from testing what I did so I've yanked that code for now.

[also, in the future I'll look into allowing single quotes into names so teams like Blackfist's Boyz and Olden's Golden can have apostrophes in their name again]

delor: Would it be a problem if I added a couple columns to the team database? I'm going to try to get some colors/fonts stuff added to the teams' pages.

Yeah, it'd screw up team creation. I should actually re-write all of the pages that fool with the database so that adding new fields won't mess them up, but right now they're a bit brittle.

What do you want to add? I could add it, then you could just alter team.php as much as you want with the knowledge of what the field names are.

delor, now that we've had a few +mv rolls for skills, we're wondering if you've taken into account that if you roll a 5, 5 you could take a trait instead of a skill or +1 mv. Same if you roll a 6, 6.

We've had a few +mv rolls, but never been offered a trait. It should be a 1/3 chance.

-Ice

delor

Yes, it can give you a trait with movement. I know because I had it happen 3 times when I was giving testing teams free SPP to test it. If you haven't been getting traits, that's because thus far you've been rolling 6 and 4 instead of two 5s.

Oh, and just to emphasise what Ice posted on the main page. Please, please, please use the charachter sheet the site produces. If you use your own and your charachters are in a different order than what the site outputs, updating your team will not work properly. The results file lists who gets what by player number, not by player name.

(Dr Drake)

Hi guys. I have returned and I have the desire to play bloodbowl. I have been advised that I should log og and start my teams by giving them names and buying the rerolls and fan factor, and that I should then post the team files so adequate money can be given to me to buy my players. I have added the Tunerican Dodgies and the Treehuggin Hippies, but I was able to add the Reptilian Rippers because it said that Lizardman or Lizardmen wasn't a valid race.

I have attached the three team files.

Delor: Bug found.

If a player dies, all the SPP for players after him on the roster is allocated to the player after the player it should be allocated to.

You probably want to move the removal of the player until after the SPP and/or injuries are allocated.

Got it, Ice. I'll fix that after work (or during lunch break) today. I'll also get the Lizardman problem Sable mentioned.

I'll post here when they're fixed.

Ok, the dead player confusing skills problem should be fixed. Post here if it continues to be an issue or if you notice any other problems.

Sable/Drake, I just created a lizardman team with no problems. I'm not sure why you're having difficulties. Try making one again, and if you have a problem post with exactly what you did and exactly what the site said and I'll try to replicate it.

IceShadow

The lizardman team problem was because the team was titled "Lizardmen." I fixed it, and he was able to make a lizardman team with no problem.

Ice/Delor:

The site will not upload .xml for player 2 in a stand alone game (would be handy if this could be fixed).

North Sunnydale Legion needs the following added:

Spike: 1 Completion, 1 MVP

Michael J.: 1 TD, 1 Cas

Oz: 1 TD.

Winnings: 60k

Also, there was a problem with Dr Drake's results.

The first miss next game on his roster (the player with the -av) should be removed (ie, the 'm' needs removing). Also, he has a player who suffered a -st. Although the stat was modified correctly, two -st show in the injury column (there should only be one).

I'll check out the standalone thing. I thought I coded it so that it would be able to sort things out, but I ran into that problem when testing the game history feature too.

I'll also check out the double ST thing and the not removing the 'm' thing; it's definately removed 'm's before so I'll have to figure out what's different.

delor

I checked out the 'm' removal and the double '-st' things, since they sounded quick to fix.

I've found why '-st' got added twice, and fixed it. I still can't see why your 'm' wouldn't get removed. The 'm' thing and the standalone thing will have to wait until I get home from work, I guess.

Could you post your results file here for me to play with?

delor
07-31-2003, 11:19 AM
I just manually fixed your two teams.

If any more standalone games are played, post what the second team got here and Ice or I can update it. This will just be a workaround until I fix the issue, hopefully tonight.

Hi Guys,

sorry, some bugs

a) When I went to select skills for my High Elves, I didn't have any of the Agility skills to select. I didn't want to choose any, so no changes needed to my team.

b) For some reason, Flann Grough (8) and Safn Through (14) are still 'm' for missing a game, even though they missed last game. Could you please update? I believe the rest of my team (SPP and SKILLS) are ok.

Cheers

Sorry, but while you're editing things, could you add 10k to MOM's cash reserve? It was for the Sponsorship Deal handicap roll.

Cheers

Just a note, that I have had the 'm' not disappearing thing occur to me once before (although it has worked properly both before and after that occurence).

Results from the stand-alone attached.

Oh yeah, also, I miscalculated the spending on my new dwarf team, and can't afford 11 players. Could you please remove the Apothecary and 2 FF, and credit me the 70k.

It would probably be worthwhile, at some stage, to expand the initial team creation screen to cover all opening expenses and check that starting teams are legal.

I 'think' it may have something to do with whether the player has 'm' by iteself or not. If you have 'm' by itself, it doesn't get removed. However, if you have a niggling or stat decrease, the 'm' gets picked up.

One of my players, the one with the -ST, did have his 'm' removed.
