View Full Version : best artist ever!

Ok, so I guess I'm not the best artist ever. . .but give me a break, I'm young (21) and my ego is still pretty much intact. As for being an artist, I claim to be one of those.

For those that don't know me, my name is Rick Hershey. I've been a published artist since the tender age of 15 and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. My credits include work in Tattoo Mag.,
Spindles Mag., and Graffiti Mag. In the Fantasy art world my work can be seen in several Mongoose publishing titles, Microtactix game titles, and JAGS! Currently I have the honor of working as Art Director for rpgaction.com and am surrounded by some of the most talented people around (who also tend to keep my on my toes)

In the near future you will be seeing my art in several d20 publications and I'm pleasently looking to expand my workload as much as possible. If you happen to be one of those companies looking for fresh, new meat. . .I mean talented artists. . .than I'm your puppet ( I meant "I'm your man...") um, anyways take a look at my portfolio and give my yell if your interested.

My website is www.homestead.com/rickhershey/one.html
As of now I'll be looking for any work, but I'd prefer something in the form of conceptual artwork. . .let me design your world!

Thanks!

Nice stuff. You are 100x better than I was at 21. Keep at it.

Do you have art school training?

I honestly have no art school training. It was a path I planned to take in high school, but as I've learned life deals you different cards than you expect. I eventually plan on going to some sort of school for the experience, or atleast continue to take classes of some nature. On a side note, the only actually education I've furthured is that of a religious nature. I'm an ordained minister and co-founder of the Church of the Endless Void, the only true church of art. It keeps me surrounded by talented people and always brings good conversation. Thanks for the compliment, later.

All right, call me a curmudgeon and I'm sure someone will, but do you know who Storn is, Rick?

You're talented, but "thanks for the compliment, later" sems a bit dismissive to me, when a guy with a portfolio as nuclear as Storn's takes the time to comment on your work.

I may be an overly crabby illustrator. If so, move on, there's nothing to see here. If not, take more advantage of the fact that a large-caliber artist looked at your stuff.

Yes, I am well aware of who Storn is, and in fact took his compliment with high regards. He has talent I aspire to posses one day. In the end he is just another artist as myself, fighting off the wolves and trying to make a living. My comment was not dismissive, and I hope he knows I hold him in high respect, but one thing I've learned in this art world is that for every positive comment I get, I can expect twice as many bad reviews of my work. It get's hard not to just filter through them all, and I really appreciate the compliment and attention to my rudeness.
Thankyou.

Smooth Rick, real smooth. Make sure you check out Rick's gallery before you go, people. He is a very talented artist and one I've worked with a few times now. He's also quite the crumudgeon himself. His gripe ability is truly fearsome ;]

Fair enough and a well executed reply, Rick.

Just making sure that we all appreciate one another sufficiently, since people who don't push pens can't be expected to understand. :)

I know you're an artist and not a typographer, but the kerning in the "Empty Rooms" logo is really really poor :)

Nice drawings, though :)

Dammit Noel,

I am not an alien, and for all of those who read that please stare into my black hollow eyes and follow the swirls. . .

*heehee* soon all the art talent in this forums will be mine!

Dammit. . . did i just type that out loud?
