Hah!
Mine was the warmest of all!
Why, it set my e-mail inbox on fire, I tell ya!
I challenge anyone to say their's was warmer!
My form-reply had just the slightest scent of jasmine.
Each carefully chosen word barely hid its passionate undertones.
It read like the highlighted parts of one of my mom's cheap airport bookshop romance novels...Swear to God...

Not needed, Scott. I'll just stand next to him and gently pat him on his head. That seems to do the trick most of the time. You have to mind your fingers though :(

Look. Kids. It's only cool to get a reply if you were like, the first person in the thread to get one, uh-huh?
After that it's all just vain attempts at one-up-man-ship and petty jealousy. Just get over it, ok?
"Baboon Jon" Man, that's not even funny. Next time you see me, Scott, you better run, ok?
Now, David, whatcha doin' Saturday night, sweetcheeks? ;)
I can't believe how low I've sunk. You know, I used to think of myself as a good influence on this board. Can you believe it? Damn, I wrote the freaking guidelines. Now I'm just the naughty kid who sits at the back chatting and throwing stuff. I need a holiday. I think I'll report myself to the mods. Sheesh.

Ya know... I knew there was a reason that I hung out here... I think its because all of you are so touched in the head that it makes my own erratic behavior look normal (and its cheaper than therapy) :D
... and they sent me a personal email and a dozen roses thanking me for not sending anything in because they already had met their quota of bad anorexic stick figures.
Seriously though, best of luck to everyone who enters... there is no dearth of talent here to pick from!

Man, I just now got a reply from Paizo they are still looking over portfolios and will be in touch etc...
Guess they got alot of submissions!
This is my second one, I guess thats a good sign. The first one was several weeks ago and it was an auto-respond. Or someone there is just confused?
GreyT
08-13-2003, 12:53 PM
Yeah - if anyone gets a for-real reply let us know, so Wren & Torstein & Eric can uncross their fingers (must be gettin' cramped by now) and I can go skulk off into a corner to nurse my sense of rejection . . .

I can still smell the smoke being blown up my wazoo. It still smells like form letter, but could be confused as personal if the author has been dead for two weeks.
Hah, a "Ghost Writer" . . .
. . .is this thing on?. . .
Did anyone get a reply on another art search for Pirates. Got a response from Adamant Ent. that said expect to hear from them and the letter spoke of specific individual pieces of my art which doesn't sound automatic. But I've been wrong before.
At any rate good luck
(yeah good luck drawing after I drain your pens and break yur pencils)
LOOK ALIVE YA SWABS! ALL HAND TO STATIONS!

Is that run by the one and only Adam Ant from the 80's who did:
Stand and Deliver
Goody 2 Shoes
You know, he dressed up kinda like early English red coats.:D

You should really have more confidence in your work, you may surprised what may come up when you least expect it. You may have had an auto-respond, but at least you submitted, some don't even get up enough self esteem to even try.
Next time try for Spectrum 11! Push your envelope! If there is something you don't like about your work, change it. Personaly I was glad to see all the artists put thier 2 cents worth in, but a bank doesn't give back dividends unless you deposit.
You obviously deposit, you'll get returns....soon probably. Maybe not Paizo, let your own nature surprise you and expect it!

Eric- Thanks, you had me going there for a second. :)
Wren- V_Shane is right. You just have to keep producing artwork and submitting it around. Just because a publisher doesn't respond to you this time doesn't mean they won't respond the next time. You have to continually promote yourself. Every time you do a new batch of art that you are proud of, send out samples. This was the third time I submitted my art to Paizo, but it was the first time they responded.

ah well, congrats ya bugger:p
and to Wren and pretty much all of us here, a bit of encouragement I learned from my wife (a writer) -- William Golding submitted his manuscript for Lord of the Flies to 99 publishers and was rejected by ALL of them. He decided to try once more, and now his book's a literary classic.
so always go for that one more!

Oh, wow! Awesome for Scott! Paizo picked a solid guy!
Hey Scott, in support of ye, I'll buy a few of the magazines with your work on it . . . You might have to tip me off, though. Us for those here who would like to show support in the same way.

LOL! Guess what I just got in my email?
Thank you for your submission to Paizo publishing. At this time we are reviewing portfolios, and you will be contacted if your services are needed. Thanks Again Dragon Magazine
I received this email twice on the day of my submission. So this makes 3 for the form letter.

Nope, can't think of anything.
I suppose I should say I've totally missed this thread due to that fucking worm and fear I've long since missed the boat on this, but I want my auto response too. I'm feeling all left out.
