View Full Version : Daaay-um. Star Wars: KOTOR is SMOOVE...

I want action figures. Rows and rows of little, metallic, kick-ass looking Sith soldiers.

I want the official soundtrack, novel adaptation, bedsheets, lunchbox, and breakfast cereal.

I want the WotC RPG supplement. Because nothing is cooler than a campaign world which allows for all your players to be Jedi (if they so choose) in a setting where it's 4000 years before anything even resembling metaplot railroading occurs.

Above all, I want the Phantom Menace/Attack of the Clones Special Editions to come out, where-in Mssr. Lucas digitally removes all semblances of anything that appeared in his original scripts, and inserts a whole new story, taking place in the KOTOR timeframe, and written primarily by the fine folks at Bioware.

This game is da' Intergalactic Mack-Daddy Pimp Bomb, and I must resume playing it IMMEDIATELY.

Regards,
Corporate Dog

November, I think.

And yeah, KOTOR is da shiznit. I was holding out against getting it, knowing the PC version would most certainly be superior, but I just couldn't do it any longer. I gave in, bought it, and I'm loving every second of it.

I'm only about four hours into the game right now, though, but I'm looking forward to the rest of it. :D

I quite like the Sith apprentices with the back-and-breast armour, there's something kind of cool about that. Double-swords, too.

And Mandalorians, you can never get enough Mandalorians.

This thread is from a faraway time before OGO. A time of great heroes and despicable villains, of trolls and flamewars, of battles between the forces of light and darkness. Some thought that time was long gone but now an evil Sith necromancer has brought them back to threaten us all!:eek:

I was looking for threats on Dogs in the Vineyard and Star Wars and this came out on top. No idea why.

Corporate Dog. And the Star Wars part speaks for itself, though I have no idea where the Vineyard part came from.

Appropos of nothing, more people need to start casually inserting the phrase "Intergalactic Mack-Daddy Pimp Bomb" into their conversations.

I'd love to do a KOTOR movie trilogy, personally. You *could* squeeze it all into a single movie, but why? More fun to play with all teh stuff there.

Besides, you know you want HK-47 on teh big screen.

Admit it.

Actually, I believe the Champions of the Force set for Star Wars Collectible Minis has a bunch of KOTOR characters, including Sith, Jedi and HK-47. :)

I've always thought we could do with The Adventures of Jolee Bindo (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=163770), myself.

Eh, the passive-aggressive senior citizen act got old pretty quickly. Plus, the whole gray Jedi thing goes too much against proper Star Wars feel.

It does. They're about one inch tall.

You get:

Bastila Shan
Visas Marr ("Jedi Sentinel")
Handmaiden ("Jedi Guardian")
Carth Onasi ("Jedi Consular")
Republic Trooper
Republic Officer

Sith Trooper (2 poses)
Sith Assault Droid (in 'walking' pose)
Masassi Sith Mutant
Gundark
Generic Dark Jedi
Generic Dark Jedi Master
Ulic Qel-Droma
Exar Kun
Darth Malak
Darth Bane

Buh-whaaa?!?

Buh-whaaa?!?

Yeah.

They wanted to have non-unique Jedi for the Republic faction. So they picked three characters from the games, and made common non-unique Jedi of three types, whose miniatures looked exactly like them.

For example, the Jedi Sentinel: <img src="http://www.wizards.com/global/images/starwars_article_CotFPreview7_pic2_en.jpg">

Jedi Consular:
<img src="http://www.wizards.com/starwars/images/CotF/Jedi_Consular.jpg">

Jedi Guardian:
<img src="http://www.wizards.com/starwars/images/CotF/Jedi_Guardian.jpg">

Republic Commander:
<img src="http://www.wizards.com/starwars/images/CotF/Old_Republic_Commander.jpg">

There's also a Sith Trooper Commander, aka Hell's Bellhop:
<img src="http://www.wizards.com/starwars/images/CotF/Sith_Trooper_Commander.jpg">

Others I forgot to mention: Darth Nihilus, HK-47. The upcoming new release ("Bounty Hunters") will include a number of Mandalorian characters:

<img src="http://www.wizards.com/global/images/starwars_article_BHPreview4_pic1_en.jpg"> <img src="http://www.wizards.com/global/images/starwars_article_BHPreview4_pic3_en.jpg"> <img src="http://www.wizards.com/global/images/starwars_article_BHPreview2_pic1_en.jpg">

I don't know...

The Consular looks nothing like Carth to me. I think that's supposed to be the Disciple.

And that looks a lot more like Atris than the Handmaiden to me.

Do they actually say the characters' names on the bases?

Jolee on a Dewback, leaping over some Sith troopers while a princess hangs on for dear life. The troopers are too stunned to fire as Jolee lets rip, "Yeeeee...."

And then teh screen pauses.

Voiceover, "Now, right about here, ol' Jolee looked to be getting away, but he had no idea what sort of heap o'trouble he was about to get in to..."

No, they don't. It's been a LONG time since I touched the games, and I only played briefly, so it's not surprising that I'd misremember characters.

The characters are apparently meant to be generic jedi in the tradition of the individuals from the games; they have fairly low-level hero stats (as opposed to the high-level hero stats of characters like Bastila and Malak).

Because nothing made Obsidian more happy than urinating liberally all over anything that might be interpreted as Star Wars atmosphere.

Also; why is this thread back? Can't you people just let these poor old threads live out their declining years in peace?

Is that their way of distinguishing themselves from Bioware, and showing their displeasure at only being known for doing KotOR II? And even then being forever in Bioware's shadow?

Hey now. Obsidian were once Black Isle (more or less), who used to publish Bioware and, what's more, put out some games themselves that really towered over Bioware in terms of ambition and originality.
