Well folks, I know it's been so long since I've posted work here that some people are wondering why I'm hanging out here. :p
This is something I've been working on and I'd like to get a little c&c before I get into the serious meat of the thing. Never mind that her feet are missing. Bare feet have become my new bane of my existence. :D
So, let me know what you think! Please?

Imagine how cool this would be if there was like a bear and a wolf in the extreme foreground listening to the music. Just their heads/ foremost parts of their bodies showing. That'd be cool.
Bare feet are hard to draw. They are just a bunch of weird shapes.
Back to the wolf/bear thing - I think adding in another element could really take this one out of "yah, ok, cool single figure, but that's all it is" territory, into "a story!" territory.
I certainly do my fair share of single figures when that's what the client wants, but it's well worth putting more in if you get the chance.

Pay attention to her torso and waist. You're got a nice femanine curve to her right side but its almost straight down on the other.
Even though her weight is shifted to her right, some of her figure would still show.
Otherwise, it's off to a very good start, Avery. Keep us updated on the progress of this one!

For the feet you should be able to sit in front of a mirror in about this pose. I think her left breast looks a bit small... look forward to seeing what you do with this.

Well, thanks for the quick posts folks! Let's see here.....
Jon H: I guess it could use something to jazz it up. I had thought about maybe putting in something like an otter or two with their forepaws on the rock she's sitting on. Maybe with a fish for an offering?
Metalman: Well, she's wearing a light, toga-like garment. Since there is a fairly strong breeze blowing, I thought the garment would billow out some to her left. Guess that's not working out too well.
veinglory: Yeah, I suppose I could. I've been using my Hogarth books and some other resources since I've been pecking away at this while I'm at work. Looks like the breast is a bit smaller on her left. I think the elbow in the way kind of throws me off even when I try to draw through the arm. I'll keep on it.

You know, iif you moved the figure higer on the picture plane you can add a loverly water repfection. Or if you move her lower, you can show more of the forest behind her . . . just an idear, take it with a grain of salt.

mahubrahd: I'm kind of interested in how it's going to turn out myself! :p I haven't decided whether I'm going to just do it as a pencil drawing or ink it. Maaaaybe if I get really ambitious I'll try to color it.
Steve T. Laws: I agree that a water reflection would be nice. I had thought of at least a partial one in the space I've allowed. I also wanted to have a few tree limbs peeking down from the top, but we'll see.
Thanks for the additional comments!

Well, I haven't gotten this puppy done yet. Other stuff intruding put the brakes on it for a bit. I did manage to add her feet and, taking Jon's suggestion of adding a little something extra, penciled in an otter with an offering. I also decided the official title of the piece will be "Music Appreciation".
Any further C&C is appreciated.

Love the feet! I have to date either avoided the prospect of drawing feet bare. Anything from shoes, boots, fog, shrubs, etc. to avoid the idea of bare feet.
Just as a suggestion I would do something around the eyes more. Eyebrows if there are to be any and definitely some type of eyelashes if possible. It just feels a bit flat on her face.
Other than that, I think it looks really good, and hope to see the finished version when it is done.
