As if my life as an artist wasn't hectic enough.

I have posted many times over complaining about price ranges and cheap money for big artwork. Well all markets being dry. My wife and I have had an extroardinary opportunity fall into our laps. We have bought a small town book store in Goffstown NH.

Even though this is an extreme risk "WE" are taking she feels and I agree that this endeavor has a better opportunity for us in the long run than waiting for "the big break" Add to that that I can draw and sketch behind the counter, I can sell work as if it were my own personal gallery. I will be teaching drawing lessons out of the shop. And If I can get the Local kids involved (their is also a small college nearby) I can have Role playing nights.

SO as an invitation to all freelancers, Artists, Writers, Art Directors, Editors and Publishers. You have a book you want to Promote. Fly right into Manchester NH, I'll pick ya up in the ol' mini-van, bring ya out to the house. We'll feed ya a good supper, put ya up fer the night, and then have a good old fashioned book signin' and sem-e-nar at the shop.

Just call ahead so's we can put out the good eatin plates and the clean sheets.

That is awesome, Don! I hope it turns out to be everything you want it to be and then some. It sounds like a fun opportunity. Best of luck!

A small town bookstore in New Hampshire. Sounds like a goal for a good many people. Myself included :) Congrats to you and the Mrs., Don.

And keep drawing!

Sounds like an exellent set up.
One of my best friends owns a Book store where he sells RPG Books and he holds a weekly Gamming night there as well.

Keep up the drawing.
And best of Luck to you.

Hey DK, congratulations! This sounds like a great endeavour and I wish you every success. If I ever have a book out then I would love to come over and promote it with your good selves.

Congratulations to you and your wife! Being a New Hampshire *native* I'll just have to pop up to the store and check things out. :-) Where in Londonderry? (feel free to email if you'd prefer)

Too cool! That's also one of the things my wife and I have tossed around doing - so I'll be interested in hearing how it goes.

While not being a NH native, just a neighbour in Maine, I think we still might make the drive some time. Bookstores are almost always worth the trip.

Congrats and good luck!

Goffstown?!

You will be a stone's throw from my home in "spittin'distance" Manch Vegas.
Literally.
I can see the Goffstown border from my front door.

Consider me a patron, dude!

Congratulations on your new venture. That is so exciting!

For those of you who have asked, or for those who are interested the following are the directions to the store
in Goffstown,

Rt 93 N to Rt 293
Follow Rt 293 all the way past rt 3 and follow the signs toward Rt 114
At the Rt 114 Junction light turn left
You will know you are going the right way if you pass the State prison for Women on the right side of the road.
(dont get excited, Ive seen them in the yard. YUK)
Follow 114 into town around the bends until you go over a small concrete bridge. then look to your left.
There will be a building with a Bakery and our shop "Jonathans Books and News" on the left. We kept the old name so as not to confuse clientell.

As I said its a small shop with a bakery attached, Books, Magazines and Comics. and a couple of comfy chairs to sit in.
Its cozy,(not big)

Life is going to be hard but, rest assured; I have no intentions of stopping drawing.

Thanks for all the well wishes, And send me your books, I'll sell em, (I might even cut you in for a percentage). . . (these are the jokes folks)

Best of luck to you and your family. It's usually a little rough when you first start out. Hopefully you'll be too busy to do a lot drawings. You might want to integrate your business with an ebay/online model to increase sales. I heard of a guy who did the same in this area and it drove his sales up a bit.

... damn my eyes ... someone actually used the term "Manch Vegas" ... who knew there were so many of us New Hampshire-ites on one board? One of these days there should be a studio for us ... hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ... yes, that's it ... a studio ... like Udon .... ;-)

If you guys ever venture to Nashua swing on by, my wife just insisted I buy a coffee maker that grinds the beans moments before brewing so we'd have fresh hot coffee if nothing else.

Thanks for the directions Don.

I also can't believe how many locals there are here. Who'd have thought NH was such a hotbed of gaming activity.

Best of luck on the new endeavor. I'll be sure to drop by and say hello.
