I paid Scoundrel $20 (through PayPal) on 10-26. He told me that he would ship my order shortly after being paid. I emailed him a few days later to see if he had shipped yet. He informed me that he was waiting for the funds I sent him to transfer to his bank and that he would ship shortly. I told him that the money was already verified and asked him to let me know when he shipped the book.

He never got back to me. Since then, I have been emailing and PMing him with no reply. He posted here as late as yesterday, so I can only assume that he is dodging me. Obviously, I'm quite annoyed.

I would suggest staying away from him.

Talk to your credit card company. You might be able to get the money back.

Actually, talk to Paypal first. They should refund your money and debit his account if he cannot prove he sent the item.

edit: Oh, and thanks for the heads up.

You might tell us his real name.

It would be against RPGnet policy to do that. Scoundrel would have to offer his real name himself.

Ah, RPG.net is pro-scammer then. Nice.

I don't speak for RPGnet, but it's against policy to post private information about any poster.

If you want to know Scoundrel's name, you can ask him yourself. Or you can ask the RPGnet admins and see what they will tell you.

Alright, I filed a complaint with PayPal. They're going to get back to me within the next 30 days to let me know what they came up with. I still haven't heard from Scoundrel despite additional messages.

Good luck with that. Another online acquaintance of mine recently got burned by a buyer here (they were never paid for books that they shipped in good faith). And then there's you and solaris.

The suggestion of a sticky thread dedicated to negative feedback (for sellers/buyers that don't ship and/or pay) was suggested. Given recent complaints of sellers not shipping yet taking money and buyers accepting books but not paying, this might not be a bad idea.

I, myself, have only been burned once on RPGnet in this manner (I bought a lot of supposedly "near mint" books that arrived in a completely mutilated condition, not due to shipping). I hate to see that some people are being deliberately cheated, given my mostly positive experiences here.

I'll start a thread with some basic guidlines for buying/selling/trading which seem to have worked out pretty well for me. Hopefully some other people can get use out of them.

Maybe everyone on Rpgnet could reply to Scoundrel in every thread he posts, and tell him to deal with his business.

Well, PayPal got back to me this weekend and they were able to return my $20. I didn't get any details however.

Scoundrel recently got back to me after quite a delay and explained his situation. Additionally, he compensated me greatly for my time and frustration. I just wanted to acknowledge his willingness to take care of business when there is a problem.
