Let my introduce myself.
I am Samer Kennedy, CEO, and Lead Art Director of Samersoft Corporation.
We are a newly formed privately owned business currently in alpha phase, and it is my job to find some talented artists out there.
Our goal at Samersoft is to create quality MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) for the PC platform.
This bootcamp will not guarantee you a job or affiliation of any kind with Samersoft, but may increase your chances of gaining a reputation with the company.
STYLE Anything goes! I will not discriminate, I am simply looking for talent.
SUBJECT EPIC FANTASY BATTLE! Whether it be Man vs Dragon, or Hoard of ogres vs. Human Keep, as long as it is a battle scene of epic proportions, it will do!
GUIDELINE DETAIL should be your priority! I do not want to put very many restrictions on you guys, as I believe I will see your best work if the material interests you.
DEADLINE 11/30/03, Please post your sketches and progress!
RATE $500.00, full page.
LEGAL If your drawing is selected, you give me permission to use your peice in any way the company wishes, and forfeit your right to use the peice with any company other than Samersoft Corporation.
Good Luck,
Samer Kennedy

Hi Mr Kennedy.
That's a major investment of time you're asking for there on the off-chance of winning a competition!
Any reason you dont have a website?
edit: forgot the "Mr" in "Mr Kennedy"! Apologies. edited again becuase I can't spell...

Is this for real? I'd recommend that you read the other threads about bootcamps and competitions etc. It's carrot that is almost too large to ignore.

That is an insanely tight deadline for color.... yet you didn't specify if it IS color.
Even if it isn't color, for a contest, battle scenes, which I've done many, are not easy... they are very time consuming.
And any way we can check your credentials... when I've done bootcamps with Hero or Mongoose, we all knew "where they lived" so to speak.

I wouldn't suggest the bootcamp approach for several reasons:
1. you're a virtual unknown here, it's your first post and no website (nothing wrong with that but it doesn't encourage risk-taking on our part)
2. your guidelines are vague and work-intensive
3. this forum's generally wary of bootcamps (unless hosted by Storn) for the obvious reason it asks a lot of us to work for free in the hopes of one getting paid
it's great you're posting an opportunity here, but you'll get better results if you request portfolio submissions, choose an artist whose style you like and then work out an individual contract; especially since you're asking for experienced professionals

I have to agree with everyone else's concerns Mr. Kennedy. Your offering here is too grand without any sort of support details. And I don't feel the bootcamp scenario will properly address your particular needs in this case. Especially with that deadline.
In that light, I offer you a chance to view my portfolio, links found in my sig below. If you see any potential there, please drop me a line. And best of luck on your venture :)

Mr. Kennedy;
I have attempted to contact you via email, but the mail administrator informs me the destination computer could not be found...
I would be interested in learning more about Samersoft and your intended project. Please feel free to contact me at your leisure...

I'm betting money on this being a joke... :) An ironizing point about the current bootcamp proliferation, mayhap?

Your leaving waving an awfully big flag, or better put trolling with an awfully big net. I think that the big experienced fish that your looking for are to experienced to stay hooked. And the little inexperienced fish are likely to follow. I mean no disrespect.
For all I know this is a very reputable company but you have to agree; if you are here telling us about how your company is constructing a huge online multi player game why cant you be found on the net?
So I to would prefere to give my web link and if you like what you see. contact me.
