I honestly don't get it. I think's it quite good with honest moments of occasional brilliance, even. It's got fun sets, Brent Spiner chewing the scenery, and lots of questions which it doesn't answer to preserve a little mystery. Can someone explain?

I have an irrational, burning desire for an e-book reader, and may ask for one for Christmas. While I really want the Kindle DX, the Sony readers have most of the functions I need and even want while being more affordable. But one thing I don’t know how to evaluate are the selection of books available from the Sony store. I’m not terribly interested in the free public domain stuff, mostly I’m worried about being able to get new releases—especially in sci/fi, history, humor, popular history and the sort of stuff you see on the Daily Show.

The Sony website says of the Reader Touch, “By supporting both industry standard formats, ePub and PDF, you can access content from a wide number of online bookstores.” What does that actually mean? Or more specifically, does it mean I don’t have to worry about it?

And the question on every gamer’s mind is, does anyone know how well the Sony readers handle pdfs?

So, I just acquired the first season of Jonny Quest this past week, and have been slowly burning through the episodes....

Man, this shit is unintentionally hilarious at times. From the blatant, but unintentional, racism to the equally unintentional hints of homo-eroticism (at least I'm assuming that both of these are unintentional) to unbridled acts of SCIENCE!!!, I find it almost funnier than any given episode of Venture Bros. due to how absolutely straight-faced it is and how utterly nonchalant all of this is handled.

I mean, any particularly episode could could contain the following:

Dr. Quest: Race! Those savages* are attacking the molecular destabilizer!
Race: I'll just knock them out with my bazooka!
Quest: Oh, Race.
Jonny: What're you doing Hadji?
Hadji: I'm using the mysteries of the Orient to flip the switch through telekinesis!
Bandit: Yip, yip. Whimper.

*Later*

Race (laying in bed with his arms behind his head): When are you coming to bed, Dr. Quest?
Quest (in matching pajamas): Oh, Race.
The Boys (both shirtless): Hahaha!
Bandit: Yip, yip. Whimper.

Then there's the over-simplification of world politics, like the fact that the commies all work together for a common commie goal. (Which might be world domination, but usually seems to be to make a quick buck.)

Also, the explosive, yet still nonchalant, lethality of the show is a kick.

Race: Well, it looks like our late captors went out with a bang!
Everybody: Hahahahaha.... Oh, Race...
Bandit: Yip, yip. Whimper.

My personal favorite is when they went against the evil French Canadian lumberjacks with the help of the stereotypical, straight-faced, broken-English speaking Native American who talks to his wolf friend (and all the other animals of the forest!)

Right now, they're fighting a one-eyed, purple (though previously invisible) monster that keeps growing from scene to scene.....

*Savages meaning hostile men without shirts, who speak in broken-English

Anyways, Steelers play Chiefs, which is actually kinda scary. Chiefs are not as bad as they look, and have lost several games by small margins.

Philly plays Chicago, in what should be a decent game.

 Journal entry: 1824
October the 2nd, plus or minus a few days.

I have been trapped in this realm for nearly five days, if the cycle of banquets and dances is an accurate judge of time. Courteous inquiries of information about this strange realm have yielded me little success, until today. At luncheon, a new gentleman sat to eat. He was a slender Adonis, and could have stood in for one of the statues of the angels in St Peter's, but for the fact that his alabaster skin and wings were bedecked with writing of the sort seen in Rome's dingier ally-ways.
Unusually, for these strange lords and ladies, he actually answered my first question, that of whom he was.

"You have noticed my lack of introduction from the herald? An honour I am denied, for my very nature. I am Archangel Barrabas, Guardian of Evil Prayers of the Innocent. A title that should be heard from the lips of everyone who sees my visage! But no..."

He shook his head as I tried to speak. "Evil prayers of the innocent!?!", I cried out.

"Indeed, mortal (although the fae is being written in the fabric of your prayers...)"

He seemed to look at my heart as were it a book, and I gasped and asked him to continue, if only to stop this denouement.

"It is so. Remember when your sister Aurelia took your toy guardsman? You prayed to God that it would return to you, stabbing her with its sabre until she screamed with pain. Ah, you do remember. No, no amount of prayers for forgiveness can change that one. That was an evil exposed before the true angels, and so cannot be expunged." He shook his feathers, and I watched as more words swirled around and onto the wings, as if carved by a multitude of daggers. I could only sit in shock, as I had indeed been petitioning my Lord for forgiveness as soon as the angel has mentioned my sister's deed.

"And so more prayers of the Innocent Evil are added."

I face another night in the same hall, but even further from salvation.

Julian Burges

And I'd like to see what other creative Tangencites can come up with, as far as Fae go.
