What's new in Torg 2.0?

I'm aware that Torg 2.0 is only in the early design stages, but that's why I'm asking now. Are there any changes planned to the game system similar to the ones that took place between Torg and Masterbook (which are nigh identical except for the kind of dice rolled and a few other details)? Are there any changes people want to see?

I want to see LESS of the goddamn Living Land.

MUCH LESS.

Other than that, I want it to stay pretty much the same.

Incidentally, is that TORG sale still going on? And if it is does anyone have a link to it?

2.0? That's old news. The real hot discussion is Torg 3.0!

For instance, how will 3.0 correct the yet unmade problems in 2.0?
Also, how does 3.0 improve upon 2.0's achievements that don't yet exist?

Well if the new company is anything like WEG... there won't be a 3.0... they will go right to 5.0. Then everybody will cry foul, and wish they had stayed with 2.0

Torg 5.0? Torg 5.0??? Come on. If the new upstart in charge of WEG has any sense of style he'll switch to roman numerals for version numbers, just as Apple did with System X.

Besides, Torg V is much sharper than Torg 5.0. I mean, look at the point on that V!

I'm inclined to think that Torg V will have some DRM in it to prevent "piracy". :D

I'm more interested in HackTorg for all the lovers of the original game, not this new fangled piece of polish that tries to insert roleplaying in the midst of hacking.

My Prediction!

Less lizardmen.

More punching.

I owned Torg, but its been a while now and couldn't get my friends interested.

What might be an intresting idea in the new version is to add some interesting aspects to cosm changes.

For instance, (and forgive me if this is already the case, like I said it's been a while) when a cosm shifts to another, not only do the laws change, but so do the non-possibility rated entities in them.

Say George was an engineer in a modern cosm, but when it shifts to a medeval-fantasy one, he's a blacksmith. Not just that, but now he's always been a blacksmith. Now he has memories growing up as a blacksmith. He has his memories of being an engineer, but as time passes, he forgets.

This could apply to architecture, items, etc.

So outside-cosm items don't become non-functional, they change into equivalent things that are appropriate to the new cosm.

This time around, it won't be "Glass Ninjas".

It will be "Synthetic Hypercarbon Crystal Ninjas".

Oh, and there will be more hip hop influence in Orrorsh. The Gaunt Man is with the East Sidahs this time around.

And, to be fair, I don't think that TORG had an undue push towards the Living Land (although it was my least favorite Cosm as well). I think that view came from the novel series, which spent a lot of time there, as well as the fact that it was the first supplement released.
