I admit that within the confines of the game this is significant. However, for me, personally, the current fix is sufficient. My investment in the game just isn't strong enough for me to be greatly bothered by the fix's disadvantages. My group may well houserule them anyway. In the early 2000's I probably would have reacted differently. In any case, this is just my personal opinion. If others want to cry out, I sincerely wish them good luck as I feel their cause has merit, but I won't be joining them.
