Thanks for the review!
Having read the core rules myself (but not played yet), I agree on the positive verdict on the setting:
+ Great art brings it alive
+ Very believable scientific advance
+ Millions of hocks for adventures (okay, not millions, but enough to keep you playing a long time)
I disagree with the review regarding the system:
- Information for CharGen is all over the book - you have to read almost everything to just generate your character
- There are many more elegant systems out there. e.g. having to translate your ability score into a dice pool using a specific table, the limited impact of skills vs. attributes on dice outcomes (roll 6d6 for attributes and add +3 for your skill) etc.
I have considered using the setting as an alternative for our SR group, but using a home-brew system to fire the engine.
