Personally, I prefer the reinterpretation of the core classes over the creation of new classes. I suspect that many of your concerns will be addressed by the Iron Kingdoms Sourcebook.

Also it is a bit simplistic to say that the Skorne are the only bad guys. There are conflicts amongst several of the human cultures, particularly with the Protectorate of Menoth. Then there are the gobbers and ogrun of the Dragon's lands.
