You don't actually need to be interested in a line, to produce books for it, do you? A lot of recent material that has come out for rifts are reprints with a dash of new stuff. Bill Coffin recently commented on this.

Quite frankly, there are a few indicators in books like the Rifts adventure guide, but basically when Bill Coffin commented in a post once about how KS doesn't play it more than twice a year, and acts as if its a chore...well, it was the last nail in the...oops, bad pun!

I'm just taking my opinion from indicators in the books (also recent ones, as mentioned in the review were replying to, ie awful new rules), the large amount of reprints and info from almost insiders (I don't think Bill worked in their main offices, but apart from that, damn close).

In the end, producing a lot of books doesn't mean your interested in the game, and really doesn't automatically mean your playing it, either.
