Sure, it helps you heal faster, but Protection can do more to keep you from even having to make a Damage Saving throw...
In fact, if I understand it correctly, and you take the maximum amount of Protection (quite affordable), you might be invulnerable to ANY attack that is bought at the same power level!
{Leaving aside the whole Penetrating/Impenetrable combo, since those can also balance things out...)
