I rather doubt how much influence it had. WWGS was formed from the merger of WWMag and Atlas Games, and the already-published (1st ed by Lion Rampant in 1987) Ars Magica had the concept of "storyguide" rather than GM, and much of the attendant shifts in viewpoint. Similarly, ShadowRun (1989) and its antecedent, Ghostbusters (1986), are pretty clearly strong mechanical antecedents for the Storyteller system--throw ShadowRun and Ars Magica in a blender, and out comes Storyteller, pretty much. Might Prince Valiant, rather than ShadowRun, have been the inspiration for dice pools? Maybe. But given how much more popular SR was at the time, it's certainly the more likely contender.
None of this is to diss PV, mind you--i think it's a great game. I just don't think you can credit it with the mechanical or RP-style basis of Storyteller.
