I don't want to blunt your response to Bloodcat's posts (which I found strange and rabid), but:

Those items you mention are not fantasy. They're religion; or history; or myth, depending on your viewpoint. A Hindu would probably be upset to hear Mahabharat called "fantasy". I think it has to be written explicitly as fiction.
