Sergio, correct me if I am wrong, but you have never actually played a dice pool game.

I have played many different varieties of game mechanics, from probabilistic d100 (Runequest/Elric/CoC), to 1d20 (D&D/Palladium/Talislanta), to 3d6 GURPS, to open-ended d100 (Rolemaster), to 2d6 + 1d6 (In Nomine), to d6 dice pools (Shadowrun) as well as WW style.

They work very well in play once you get used to them. It's no harder to use them than a simple d20. And it gives both success/failure as well as degreee.
