Converted from Phorums BB System
"Sorry, there's a confusion here. Were we not speaking about stunts? I must have misread your original."
Apparently so. Your "how gamist is that?" was in reference to the dice pools, specifically, in the review.
"As I said, it works but at the cost of game time that could be better used in actual roleplaying. From a rpg design perspective (the one I addopted), this is not the most clever thing to do. IMO things that distrcat from roleplaying don't work for roleplaying. They may be entertaining, they may enjoyable, but they are not roleplaying. counting dice is one of those things. I was commenting on roleplaying mechanics. "
As long as it's enjoyable, who cares if it meets some arbitrary definition of "true roleplaying"? I thought this stuff was supposed to be *fun*.
Never mind the irony of someone criticizing White Wolf for being pretentious, while talking out of a different orfice about "true roleplaying."
"What? Is it unreasonable to expect the setting to provide me ideas on what to do with it? What are to be purposes of the characters? Their place in society? IMO Exalted does not provide me these."
Exalted *does*, in fact, provide these things, in spades. They're there - you missed them. That's why I consider your review shallow and superficial.
