I have found that my D20 players withno mythos experience play the game more gung ho, and they suffer a high mortality rate. My BRP players who are familiar with the mythos creep around a lot....but suffer a high mortality rate when the combat starts. In the D20 version, they also suddenly become more gung ho....and have slightly diminished mortality rates as they pick and choose more carefully (owing to mythos experience). Biggest difference between the two games, I agree, is in D20 you can usually shrug off one or two more bullets than in BRP. I have found that the creature lethality is astounding for either game, however.
In the end....the D20 CoC group would never have tried BRP, and the BRP CoC group still prefers BRP. I, on the other hand, get the delicious joy of double the dose of CoC because I have something for everyone, so this is a win-win situation for me!
