About Changes from First Edition

Converted from Phorums BB System
Sorry about coming again...Sergio mentioned the changes wrought int the second edition...for those interested they can be summed up as follow:
- Magic was a bit different: spells used to be learned in written form, written in a language called Draconic. So you could stumble on a good old spellbook and add a load of new spells to your lists. Now, learning spells is achieved through meditation, by observing how the Dragons weave the Great Tapestry...a much more poetic and original concept in my opinion...
- From what I remember, there was no limit on which spells you could choose during character creation which led to every High dreamer having "Air to Fire" and " Sordid Warrior"
- Some spells have changed: one of the most notable example being the "Sordid Warrior" which used to be a real dreadnought with weapon skills going into the +9 and his plate mail giving him 6+1d6 protection points if I'm not mistaken...nowadays, a Sordid Warriro is a welcome addition in a tough fight but a manageable opponent if you happen to be on the wrong side of the sword...
- Some spells have disappeared like "Time Shift/decalage Temporel" which was a way of getting precognition which translated in heavy bonuses in Combat Skills...or the dreadful "Annihilation" although I read that the translator chose to keep it in the English version...too bad for English-spealing journeyers...
- A lot of game concepts which appeared in later sourcebooks have found their way into the 2nd edition core rules : task points, systems to simulate love and its morale-boosting effects, how to handle (over)drinking etc...
