I loved the Earthdawn setting. The Kaers (a great reason for abandoned dungeons), the Horrors...brilliant! The setting is one of the richest you'll find.
Unfortunately, I felt the system was terrible. I hated the magic system, although it's a lateral move from D&D. The skill system and 'magic abilities' weren't to my taste. But I did like the variant races.

I tried converting, but felt that too much of the system was tied to the setting, and removing that would remove too much 'heart' of the game, so I had to move on.

It's worth a look, though, the system is definetly not for everyone, but it's a fantastic setting!

I'd probably play it if it was in D20 and they dropped the 'everyone uses magic abilities' concept.
