Converted from Phorums BB System
I hope the people at decipher are reading this. You made a really good point. I have been using ICE modules for years and still use them once in a while for gaming background or adventures. When I create an area of my own, it is always done ICE style now. They are some of the best modules I have ever used, because they describe and map areas as if they were actually real, with historical detail, consistent word roots and names by area, and interesting political events and figures such as the Green Asp character (can't remember which module). They always seem to focus more on a rich and detailed background with lots of GM tools rather than presenting a predetermined story or plot, which players often dislike. I do agree that they seem to fit the Ultimate High Fantasy world better than Tolkein's relatively low magic Middle Earth. The Court of Ardor especially fits into this category. One of their best features was to give conversion charts in their modules so that the adventure could be played with other game systems. This probably could not be done anymore, because there are so many different dice rolling systems.
