That statment right there. You can't honestly say that. Vibropod said that he's not one to complain about rpg prices but SW seemed a little pricey to him for 144 pages.

Hey. I just found you some games. I knew their are games out their for under $30 bucks. You never said by how much just under $30.

---> I think I said hardcover core rulebooks, but it's close enough. They do exist, but they do not appear to be the majority of rulebooks out there, so I don;t think this one is "pricey". It's not even on the high end of the scale. There are a fair number of d20 campaign books that are at $39.95 and up.

To me honestly I would have liked to have had a section on Sci-fi type material like how to build spaceships a guide line if you will , space travel, Spaceship combat and alien races etc. In my opinion the races given in the book are more fantasy driven than anything else. Maybe a section on cybernetics as well. I understand that Slipstream is coming out. But Sci-fi basics like stated above would have been nice to have had in the core book. I'm looking forward to a lot of the books coming out. With my luck Slipstream is not coming out till next year. I really need to be a play tester. The waits going to kill me.

---> See, _this_ is the kind of thing that I'm getting at. The original review didn't have anything like this, and the original post on cost had nothing like this. "It skews a little more towards fantasy than SciFi" is a valid point, something people might want to know.

I will add a very mild upping of the ante and say I wish there were more races in the book and not just a spaceship system but a basic vehicle design system. I'm sure we'll see one eventually, for the miniatures side of things if nothing else, but it would have been nice to have in the book.

Beyond that I thought the Edges & Hindrances were very complete, and the sections towards the end that cover various environmental effects were about all anyone would need.

I truly don't think that SW is going anywhere anytime soon. The games a lot stronger than that. Have a little faith.

The basic premise of the game is great, and being a post-30 something player who's trying to run a game (Star Wars) on a weeknight, I constantly run into all the things pointed out in the intro - allies are usually noncombatants, big battles are abstracted, combat sucks up much of the session, etc etc. So I'm on board with this one.

The price comment just seemed bad to me. I've tried to ignore the obvious reasons, like Pinnacle is a smaller publisher and smaller print runs cost more per book to produce, but I am aware of them. It bothers me that people will drop $40 on the Realms campaign book, or $35 on Spycraft, or $45 on Star Wars, or even $25 on some 3rd-party d20 class supplement that is 90% feats and prestige classes, then turn on a new game from a smaller publisher that is $30, calling it overpriced. I'm more of a "what did I get for my money game-wise" kind of guy. I think a complete game for $30 is pretty good. To me overpriced is something like the Gurps books that focus on one character type, giving mostly templates for $23 or so. I notice there's a review of one up now, and someone is asking the price question there. To me, the answer there is yes. But here, where it's the start of a new game system, no.
