"What the Epic Level Handbook should have bee

G'day, Eric!

It's a pity you included the "What the Epic Level Handbook should have been" slam in the blurb, because it had the effect of prejudicing me against what actually looks like a decent product.

In the context of the article it works pretty well - "Simply put, Dynasties and Demagogues is what I wanted the Epic Level Handbook to be" - but it's awful in the blurb.

One of the interesting points about the ELH is that the designers actually thought about what they should do - should they change the style of game entirely, or go with the existing D&D style. They decided upon the latter, and I cannot say that it was the wrong choice. It's not appropriate for everyone, but that's not the question.

Dynasties and Demagogues looks like a different type of game than 'standard' D&D, and an excellent one - but it's not something that should be just limited to Epic Levels, which is another implication of your blurb.

I'm probably hitting you rather hard about this. Apologies for that, though I hope you see the point. It's a pretty good review - although I wish you'd had more time to prepare it in - and I look forward to reading further reviews by you.

Cheers,
Merric
