Converted from Phorums BB System

Stephen Martin
administrator@glorantha.com

says;

RuneQuest predates Pendragon by 6-7 years, so RQ definitely was the earlier concept. Also, Greg did not design the gaming system in RuneQuest; Steve Perrin and friends did. Greg did, however, design Pendragon.

Pendragon has very little in common with the Basic Roleplaying system -- it
is d20 based rather than d100, involves opposed resolution (which RQ does
not), and involves a different scale of play. The two are not related.

Glorantha predates RuneQuest by more than
10 years; it first appeared in print as a wargame, White Bear & Red Moon. And
Pendragon, if I understand it correctly, was specifically and intentionally designed to NOT be based on RQ and Basic Roleplaying.

Also from Greg Stafford(correct spelling...i have been misspelling it, sorry.)

"(The RQ)game system was mostly done by Steve Perrin and assisted by
Ray Turney, was the basis for BRP.
I designed Pendragon to be a different system. The resolution system in
Pd is similar to BRP but much cleaner. Also, as Steve said, Pd has a
large number of different concepts such as the religions, the Traits and Passions, the time scale and generations of characters and the integration with a well known literary epic.

I started work on Glorantha in 1966, and published my first Gloranthan game in about 1984 (I think it was.) It was the board game White Bear & Red Moon, later called Dragon
Pass."

So I hope that clears up some misconceptions that I may have encouraged. Sorry, folks.
