How it went for us.

Converted from Phorums BB System
I played Jared's folly with 2 players and it went okay. Being Monty Haulers(a classic D&D reference), they wouldn't go with the pregenerated characters and instead created a rakashan(cat person) and a samurai. First of all, I reduced the dozen Troggs to 8. Then I decided that those spikes could be used as weapons: the good guys could "rush" the troggs into the spikes dealing extra damage. Even so, the troggs got lucky one round and took out half of the NPCs, nearly turning the battle in their favor. I was still getting the hang of the rules, so I didn't even think about the troggs fleeing when most of them were dead(which would have been a great idea). Janus ended up incapacitated, which left 2 heroes to deal with the rest of the swamp...
We then had to end the session, so I took the opportunity to read ahead and plan ahead. When I saw the dragon's stats, I decided that I'd not bother with the Wild die, but I'd still give it extra Wounds. Then I decided to add en encounter with a gruff but freindly "Swamp Witch"(really a Mad Scientist/"alchemist") so the heroes might actually stand a chance. She gave them healing potions for themselves and the villaigers plus her "last bag of zombie powder" and agreed to loan them her "boomstick" (Bolt/double barreled shotgun) and 10 bullets if they brought back the dragon's tongue. They went back to the villaige, gave Janus a potion so they'd be only slightly outnumbered instead of hopelessly outnumbered, and set out for the dragon's lair.
When they finally got to the dragon, Jared actually ended up being a useful distraction after an application of Zombie Powder. By avoiding using bennies, and ruling that the dragons mouth(using the Called Shot rules) only had a Toughness of 10, the heroes actually managed to take it out without all getting killed(except Jared who was already dead of course). The Dragon's Tooth never wounded the beast, though it was Shaken by it several times, and the Boomstick ended up being essential. The Dragon managed to use each of it's special attacks once, and almost beat the party, but eventually succumbed. In the end, they managed to accomplish what they set out to do(including delivering the tongue and Dragon's Tooth) without too much GM interference apart from the Boomstick, and now I need to come up with another adventure!
