Converted from Phorums BB System
Gentlemen,
I greatly appreciate your input. In our design, we were trying to emulate the cultural elements that I discovered in my travels to the Middle East--where such minute and apparently trivial distinctions are quite a serious matter.
Perhaps it is too much detail for the western mind--since that is the customer base we are dealing with.
In our next game--which does not take place in an "arabic renaissance" world--many of these subtle distinctions will be smoothed out.
I do appreciate your comments and will continue to hone the system.
As it stands, however, you do not need to play the game with those subtleties if you don't want them. They are there only for those who desire to use them. If you wish to allow any character with a "deception" skill to face any situation without modifier, you are free to do that as the Bard.
