I had a problem with this, too. I love Horizon Realms and there practical removal from the game upset me. It was a good review though.

You would think they would have done something to keep Horizon Realms around but not in the control of mages. Maybe they were taken over by spirits and found a different source of quin. A lot of possibilites there.
