"Actually, this is pretty much what happened to most of them -- except the spirits *are* the former residents. In a way, the Realms are now more archetypes for what the represent -- very much like the Epiphamies elsewhere in the book. Victoria Station is full of spirits the reenact Scientific Romance. Doissetep is a phantom palace full of ephemeral schemers. They're also a little easier to get to, as well, sicne they're now on various Umbral planets."
As you say though, this is already covered by the Epiphamies. If you want a cool places full of schemers, go to the Umbral Realm of Scheming. Interacting with phantom spirits is just not going to have the same meaning to many players as with Mages.
Some Horizon Realms getting nuked I could buy, but I find it hard to swallow all those Masters and Archmasters couldn't find a way to avoid this fate.
I get it goes with the MRev theme of "wipe out the powerful guys, so PCs can be the movers and shakers", but it seems nothing is gained (any achetypal realm could have been done anyway) and much is lost.
I'm not a MRev hater these days, but I'm never keen on changes that narrow possibilities. Particulalry when the feedback from my players is that they really enjoyed the sessions set in Horizon Realms dealing with Mages.
