A related question might be, "What are they risking by adding extra dice?" I could see a system variant where a fumble got more likely the more dice you rolled, to reflect that only characters who have the ability to make it stick should do grandiose stunts.

On the other hand, someone with a minimal ability would need to max out their dice pool to get 1 success reliably, so it's not like it's overpowered for them.
