Well, I generally refer to it as "falling", because it was very much a desperation move on the part of the Thig - a "sell-out or burn-out" situation. Had Sharad Osei not struck the deal, House Thig (with its membership weakened and its political center destroyed) would likely have become a minor House within a year.

To preserve said Major House power, a majority of Thig magi shifted loyalty to House Verditius - the resultant boost in membership being enough to restore it to Major House status. However, a few didn't switch, some going on to form House Xaos.

But, it can be perceived two ways... Houses Thig and Verditius merged, or House Thig dissolved, with the greater majority of its population moving en masse into Verditius. Sharad got the Primus spot as a reward for his political genius.
